Penelope Keith - who starred as Agatha Raisin in the popular BBC Radio 4 series - reads M. C. Beaton's eagerly-awaited murder mystery. Agatha Raisin has never been one for enforced holiday cheer, but her friendly little village of Carsely has always prided itself on its traditional Christmas festivities. However, this year Mr John Sunday has chosen Christmas as the time to crack down on what he sees as gross misconduct by everyone. But when Mr Sunday goes too far, he is soon found lying face down in the petunias, very much dead.

This book was a good choice for me, for straight after the holiday. I enjoyed the fast moving story that had lots of different characters, I found them easy to visualise. The descriptions were good, and not 'too wordy' the story had a few twists and turns too. Everything that M C Beaton writes is worth reading, in my opinion. Penelope Keith is superb as a narrator of this genre. Recommended!

He is Dexter Mayhew, tall, dark, and (she can't deny it) handsome. She is Emma Morley, bottled red hair, wilfully badly dressed, all principles and no action. Could this be the dawn of the rest of their lives? Or are Dex and Em living proof that - despite an unlikely beginning - men and women really can be just good friends?

I was told that this was a "must read" but I found it to be a sad book that left me feeling miserable at the end, not what I read books for!

This book was a rollicking read it had so many different twists and turns with some dead ends and a few red herrings. I learnt all sorts of things about the rowing fraternity. I will read it again.

Take one aspiring cook, one judge, and a spoonful of romance...When Zoe Harper wins a coveted place in a televised cookery competition she's thrilled. It's a chance to cook her way to fame and fortune and the little delicatessen she's set her heart on. The first task has hardly begun when she finds herself with rather too much on her plate. Not only has she got to contend with the fiercely competitive and downright devious Cher, but she's fast developing an inconvenient crush on one of the judges - the truly delicious Gideon Irving.

Not my favourite of Katie Fforde's books, but I do like her writing. A good old story without all the bad language just a good bit of storytelling I have recommended this to my friends not too predicable but enjoyable lightweight fiction.

Everything I look for in a modern mystery, with the involvement of the police and the amateur sleuth, who always solves the crime no matter how obscure the clues. Each one individual but all with the same main characters. Lots of intelligent, subtle humour. Can't wait for the next book in the Maxwell's series.

When a hotelier announces that he will be converting Springwood Hall into a smart country hotel, his plan is greeted with a chorus of local disapproval, led by the fearsome Hope Mapple, head of the Society for the Preservation of Historical Bamford. So the grand opening, to which all are invited, promises to be a lively affair, particularly since Hope is planning a disruptive protest "streak". However, Hope is to be unwittingly upstaged by the discovery of a recently murdered body on the premises.

I always enjoy Ann Granger and this didn't disappoint. As ever a great mystery I love the various different misleading "clues" kept me glued to the book. Great read.

Soul searching was an unfamiliar exercise to Bill Stratton, and he found it intriguing as well as painful. He hadn't had much occasion for it in his life, given that he was fairly shallow, but then, on the verge of his 60th birthday, his wife told him she was leaving him for another man.

I laboured through this book and kept on hoping it was going to improve. I don't think it did, I usually listen with my spouse and this was just not that material. I usually choose a Simon Brett and thoroughly enjoy them but not this.

Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

I really like Miranda Hart but this was just rubbish! So disappointing no part of it was worth listening to. I wish I had borrowed it from the library and at least then I could take it back unread, as it it it is on my ipod un-listened to. Sorry but that is the way I feel.
