Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. For four days they're free to live someone else's life. But In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police....

This is 90% shawshank redemption and a 10% mystery, not what I expected, well narrated and not a bad read just a prison experience, with a hint of mystery not really enough. Therefore a disappointing patterson.

A Journey is Tony Blair's first-hand account of his years in office and beyond. Here he describes for the first time his role in shaping our recent history, from the aftermath of Princess Diana's death to the war on terror. He reveals the leadership decisions that were necessary to reinvent his party, the relationships with colleagues, the gruelling negotiations for peace in Northern Ireland, the battles over education and health, the implementation of the biggest reforms to public services since 1945.

    Story

Whatever your politics and even if you hate Tony Blair you would be re-miss if you have rounded debates in not listening to his perspective attempting understanding why he rightly or wrongly made the decissions he did.
I listened to this trying to understand why this country is in the position it is now. It may not have given me all of the answers but it's much less clear cut to just blame Tony blindly he made difficult decissions and this is an account of why, it is undoubtly prejudiced from his perspective, yet it is fascinating.
In terms of the narration it takes a bit of getting used to, its very stilted and anxious but after a while he either calms down in the reading or it just stopped bothering me.

In September 1939 housewife and mother Nella Last began a regular diary that lasted for 30 years. The account that she left of life during the Second World War is moving, fascinating, and unique. While Nella's younger son joined the army, she and the rest of the family tried to adapt to the transformed rhythms of life in Barrow-in-Furness, which suffered terribly from enemy bombing raids. Writing each day for the "Mass-Observation" project, Nella's diary entries tell a powerful story about the war years.

This was one of those books you struggle to settle with initially I think the reason for this could lie in the fact you are introduced to large number of characters very quickly and establishing who is the central one is frustrating.
I did listen to the first 30mins and gave up until much later, when i have to say it was well worth going back to. Its well written well narrated and reveals itself as a very high quality piece of work which you would expect from such a renowned author.

William Shatner gets the joke about William Shatner. In fact, most of the time he's the one telling it. His self-effacing attitude, so perfectly parodied in the bombastic character he now plays on Boston Legal, is one of the reasons for his huge popularity. While best known for his creation of Captain James T. Kirk, William Shatner has been a working actor for more than half a century. As funny, charming, and self-deprecating as the man himself, this book will delight his fans of all ages.

What a narrator, William Shatner aka Kirk, T J Hooker, and most appropriatly Danny Krane. Reads magnificently he entertains all the way through and you really don't have to like the guy. I picked this up because it was the 'on hold' book when you rang through to audible, and its brilliant.
You will not regret a single second you listen to this whatever your thoughts on the person or the character he plays.

Most personal and organizational problems are the result of a little-known problem called "self-deception". We deceive ourselves into thinking we're doing the right thing for the right reason, but people won't follow a leader whose motives are selfish. The tricky thing is, we don't know that our motivation is flawed.
