We are all storytellers - through stories, we make sense of our lives. But it is not enough to tell tales. There must be someone to listen. In his work as a psychoanalyst, Stephen Grosz has spent the last 25 years uncovering the hidden feelings behind our most baffling behaviour. The Examined Life distils over 50,000 hours of conversation into pure psychological insight, without the jargon. This extraordinary book is about one ordinary process: talking, listening, and understanding.

Really enjoyed this, very different from what I'd normally listen to. There is about 30 stories in here, allowing you to listen in to peoples lives for a while, very engaging. I also loved the narration, it was almost hypnotic which really suited the audiobook.

Six years have passed since Jake Sanders watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven't come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd's obituary, he can't keep himself away from the funeral.

Enjoyed this, and it was about the right length as I wouldn't have wanted it to go on for too much longer, its got a good pace the only thing I didn't like is that it reminded me of Tell No One in places.

Good listen for a commute or a holiday!

The irrepressible Russell "Buffy" Buffery has upped sticks from London and moved to Knockton, Powys, to a B&B inherited from an old flame. With his future spread before him, and a string of failed marriages behind him, Buffy decides it's time for a new challenge. Meanwhile: Harold's wife has run off with a younger woman leaving him alone with his as-yet-unwritten novel narrated by Mary Pickford's cat; Amy's weedy boyfriend has turned out to be not so needy after all; and Andy's partner's corset-and-suspender-clad attempts at seduction are having anything but the desired effect.

Was recommended to read this, but didn’t really want to, so I got the audio instead, very glad I did. Great narration, funny, and light-hearted enough to make two (otherwise dreadful) massive train journeys really enjoyable…. Perfect for a holiday listen or a commute and well worth a credit. I’ll definitely give Best Exotic Marigold Hotel a listen now.

Journalist, presenter, broadcaster, husband, father, vigorous all-rounder - Alan Partridge - a man with a fascinating past and an amazing future. Gregarious and popular, yet Alan's never happier than when relaxing in his own five-bedroom, south-built house with three acres of land and access to a private stream. But who is this mysterious enigma? Alan Gordon Partridge is the best - and best-loved - radio presenter in the region. Born into a changing world of rationing, Teddy Boys, apes in space and the launch of ITV, Alan's broadcasting career began as chief DJ of Radio Smile....

This is an incredible AudioBook, i decided to hate Coogan after seeing him appoint himself on some government lobbying press advisory board, which actually proved that he is more than just part Partridge.

This Audiobook however actually elevates to genius level, it's so much better than his TV shows, which (though great) need to aim for a quick laugh, this builds and builds. He literally becomes Alan Partridge, brand Partridge, regal, misjudged, and you can't help but bask in his glory.

    BUY IT!

Through the study of these time-honored myths, the Greek heroes and gods - including Heracles, Zeus, Achilles, Athena, Aphrodite, and others - leap from the page in all their glorious splendor. The following lectures are not only an entertaining guide to Greek mythology, but a fascinating look into the culture and time that produced these eternal tales.

A set of relaxed but insightful lectures on Classical Mythology, sometime they feel quite conversational, but in a good way. Can recommend.

Great audiobook, I'd just finished the rivers of london audiobooks and was looking for something new, definitely didn't let me down.

It opens at full steam and keeps it's pace, a great supernatural spy thriller which keeps you thinking... It is actually funny too when it wants to be which is a bonus. Well worth a credit, I'm looking forward to more from O'Malley.

Peter Grant is learning magic fast. And it's just as well - he's already had run ins with the deadly supernatural children of the Thames and a terrifying killer in Soho. Progression in the police force is less easy, especially when you work in a department of two. A department that doesn't even officially exist. A department that if you did describe it to most people would get you laughed at.

Doppler has just lost his father. Despite the fact that he has a pregnant wife and two children, he decides to move into the woods. Here he starts a lonely and purposefully boring existence. He has never been so happy. When Doppler kills a she-elk for meat, he can't feel guilty about it - but he does feel a bit guilty about the calf she left behind. When the baby elk adopts him, Doppler is tempted to knock it down as well. But the little elk is wily and escapes death, and gradually they become friends.

Doppler is my kind of Toblarone eating antihero, the sort of guy who goes out looking for enemies and finding friends, one case in point is Bongo, the elk who teamed up with him after Doppler killed his mother.

Loved the book, and was a bit nervous in case I didn't like the narrator, I needn’t have worried.

Only warning that should come with the book, it definitely isn’t suitable for kids, which the cover may not express.

Charles Dickens' story of solitary miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is taught the true meaning of Christmas by the three ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, has become one of the timeless classics of English literature. First published in 1843, it introduces us not only to Scrooge himself but also to the memorable characters of underpaid desk clerk Bob Cratchit and his poor family, the poorest amongst whom is the ailing and crippled Tiny Tim.

I've started getting into the Christmas mood, a little early you may say, but it's happened. After seeing all the hugely positive reviews on Amazon for this I downloaded it, and I can see why they all loved it so much.

I didn't realise it before, but Tom Baker is such a hero, I'm going to send a copy to my sister in Singapore, just to make her homesick. Highly recommended with a festive drink on a rainy night.

There is an old, empty house in Devil's Cleave, a deep gorge that leads from the high moors down to the harbour village of Hollow Bay. The house is Crickley Hall and it's large and grim, somehow foreboding. It's rumoured to be haunted. It's thought to hold a secret. Despite some reservations, the Caleighs move in, searching for respite in this beautiful part of North Devon, seeking peace and perhaps to come to terms with what's happened to them as a family. But all is not well with the house....

I downloaded this in excitement after enjoying the first episode on BB1 last night... Great stuff, it's really kept me on the edge of my (car) seat. In true keeping with James Herberts other books, Crickley is seriously spooky stuff.

Much better than the TV program, and gives it more depth and background if you are watching. Great audiobook, and great value at 18 Hours for one credit.
