This is a story about madness. It all starts when journalist Jon Ronson is contacted by a leading neurologist. She and several colleagues have recently received a cryptically puzzling book in the mail, and Jon is challenged to solve the mystery behind it. As he searches for the answer, Jon soon finds himself, unexpectedly, on an utterly compelling and often unbelievable adventure into the world of madness.

this is a really great piece of work and narrated by Jon Ronson himself. It's really quirky, very funny and a fascinating insight into the madness industry. I learnt so much from this book.

the first part of this audiobook does not work. I've told audible and they haven't responded. It didn't work on my PC, it didn't work on my iPod and it didn't work on my iPad. after the usual audible description at the start, it skips to your next audiobook. the other parts worked fine, production seemed professional and well read, but I had no idea what was going on really as the first part didn't work. Please sort it out because I really wanted this book.

Adrian Gilbert (a best-selling author of numerous books on the subject) leads us through the mystery of the Rosicrucians, uncovering many new insights and revelations. This secretive brotherhood emerged seemingly from nowhere with a sacred message for those with the eyes to see it. Their message is just as relevant today as it was in ancient times, and Gilbert re-introduces us to their teachings.
"overpriced for a run of the mill lecture"

    Story

it's a lecture not a book and this needs specifying. I bought this believing the information provided... turns out that this is a rambling, unstructured lecture that is delivered by a nervous, characterless voice. It seems more about the authors experiences than the subject matter, which is not why I bough this book.
it just feels like it lacks substance... we're told at the beginning that there's a set of lectures on the subject... well that's what I thought I'd bought, where are they?

After Jack the Ripper and before Son of Sam there was only one name their equal in terror: the deadly, elusive, and mysterious Zodiac. Beginning in 1968 the hooded mass murderer terrified the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area with a string of brutal killings. A sexual sadist, his pleasure was torture and murder.

I found this a really hard book to read but it was great as an audiobook and very accessible. Full of mystery, intrigue and really terrifying that the man was never caught. Great download.

In this true crime story, Bonanno provides a remarkable glimpse into the underworld of yesterday and today, from Bugsy Seigal to John Gotti.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was a fascinating insight into the old world of the mafia. I'm just blown away that the answer to the Kennedy assassinations is in this book and yet still people are debating the conspiracy theories. I just couldn't put my ipod down and spent a whole day listening to this from the beginning to the end. Without a doubt this is one of the best audio books that I've listened to.

    Story

In November 1970, Charles Manson was sentenced to death for the cold-blooded murders of seven people near Los Angeles. His sentence was later reduced to life imprisonment.... When author Marlin Marynick was eight years old, he discovered a beat up copy of Helter Skelter. The book's portrayal of Manson haunted Marynick for years, well into his career as a psychiatric nurse. So when a chance conversation facilitated a connection to Manson himself, Marynick went along for the ride....

A thoroughly enjoyable look inside this man's strange mind and the world that he lives in. There is a touch of the sycophant in the authors voice but I was very interested in the satanic connections between Manson and Polanski. All in all this is a must for all fans of subculture..
