Winner of the 2010 COSTA Biography Award. A total of 264 wood and ivory carvings, none of them larger than a matchbox: potter Edmund de Waal was entranced when he first encountered the collection in the Tokyo apartment of his Great Uncle Iggie. Later, when Edmund inherited the 'netsuke', they unlocked a story far larger than he could ever have imagined....

If you want to be bored get this book. I began listening hoping I would learn a lot about Netsukes, but no, I am not sure if even the Author knew what he wanted to write about. I got as far as Chapter 4 and just could not stand listening any longer, even the TV was better !! Not a good buy and a great disappointment.

We are about halfway thru this Audio Book and to begin with we found it really interesting BUT then he gets to Hollwood and all it can talkabout is the different Studios which is not at all interesting. We will continue to listen and just hope it gets better.

This is an excellent Book, superbly read and exciting and interesting to listen to as well. It is better if one can listen to the whole book at once as it is quite difficult otherwise to keep track of the cahrecters. We are going to listen to it again. A Fantastic super change from the terrible book "Sisters" which was very badly read as well.

If Rosamund wanted to write poetry she should not have tried to write a book. I have never been so bored listening to such rubbish. The story could have been told in half the time. A wast of money We do not recommend it at all.
