In his Alpine base, Blofeld is developing biological weapons that will devastate Britain. Unaware of the danger, James Bond is about to get married to Teresa di Vicenzo, the daughter of a Corsican Mafioso. But then he is sent to Switzerland. Bond's marriage and Blofeld's schemes disintegrate in a blizzard of gunfire and high explosives from which neither man emerges the victor.

"Loved it"
Listened to this with the family on the dread Christmas journey, which takes four hours. They asked for it to be put on as soon as we started the journey home - praise indeed! David Tennant really brings the book to life with an astonishing array of accents, and Ian Fleming's attention to detail when describing cars, action or people was excellent. Almost thought I was in France in a white Lancia instead of rain-sodden Britain in a Volvo (sigh...)
"If you love Bond you will love this."
David Tennant narrates this book so well. When you hear this audio book you will realise just how good the original stories are.
"Much better than the film"
One of the best Bond stories ever penned, Bond at his gritty best with real dram & excitement, fantastically narrated!
"Book better than the film"
I enjoy the 007 films and just started listening to the book it's better than the film
"A good story well told"
Excellent story well told. David Tennant is an excellent choice as narrator. The story is exciting and moves at a fast pace all the time. It is well structured and slick as are all Ian Fleming books. All in all a good tale well told 10 out of 10.
"I loved this"
I loved this and couldn't wait to listen when I had a moment. David Tennant's narration is superb and I believed all of his character's. Good, nostalgic escapism in true James Bond style.
"brilliant"
I loved listening to this. So much so that I would find longer ways to walk home just to hear more story. As a James bond film fan I had never read any of the books. This will change now. I loved being able to hear bond's thoughts. And David tennent provides a brilliant narration.
"Very good"
This may have been written in the 1960's but it is still very relevant today and not at all dated. Chemical/germ warfare, evil despots, the need for international cooperation and counter terrorism. The real action comes about two thirds of the way through the book, up a mountain in Switzerland, and James Bond is everything I expected and more.
"Bond at his very best"
Bond at his very best and Narrated fabulously by David Tennant. The best Bond story in existence and massively underrated, Tennant brings the story to life with impeccable professionalism and his broad range of accents is almost endless - he even manages to get his native Scottish accent in there! Each character somehow seems to have a different voice, meaning that it is closer to being acted than simply Narrated. An absolutely superb buy and well worth the money.
"Dr Who joins M15"
James Bond took on a completely different personna for me when I listened to the excellent David Tennant read this book. The story itself is interesting though a little dated nowadays but David's narration had me spellbound. Will look for him again.
