Simple strategies for a happier home and more cooperative kids. For children aged 3-13. Finally, a revolutionary programme that gives you simple steps to take the daily battles out of parenting.
These strategies resolve one of parents' biggest frustrations: getting your children to listen and do what you ask, the first time you ask. When children are at their best, it is easy to get along with them and enjoy them. However, when they are defiant, argumentative or disrespectful, it is easy to get wound up, to argue back, threaten, nag or shout. If this sounds like the situation in your home too much of the time, then Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting is for you. When you use these strategies, not only will your children become more cooperative, but also more confident, self-reliant and considerate. Learning new skills like Preparing for Success, Descriptive Praise and the Never Ask Twice method can transform your relationship with your child in a short space of time and help bring the joy back into family life.
Full of examples and real stories from parents, this book gives you clear step-by-step guidance to achieve Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting. These strategies work!

"It has taken the stress out of parenting - I'll probably live 10 years longer." (Helena Bonham Carter)
"Recommended book for parents & teachers"
This is a must for all parents & teachers. I enjoyed listening to this book while commuting.
"Forget other books on parenting!"
I'm only 2 chapters in and already achieving massive improvements in my interaction with the kids, it just a matter of days I got my little one into a new bed time routine and she no longer makes a fuss about cleaning her teeth etc and the bed time routine is a real pleasure for her as she feels all grown up:-) My wife can't believe it!

"It does what it says on the tin!"
This book IS wordy and repetitive and it has to be so, but it's worth it, and IT WORKS! It will change your attitude on how you deal with your "difficult" child. The child's behaviour will improve, and you will be amazed. Implementing the strategies in the book takes constant energy, determination, and consistency, not to mention on-going re-reading to refresh your tactics. As granny to an intense, emotional child, I have seen great changes and improvements. All other "how to" books have been thrown away. Use it, and stick with it, it's a sanity saver!
"persevere, it works."
I was very sceptical when I chose this book, nothing could work on my kids (six and four). They never listened until someone shouted or they had had favourite toys thrown away. This never left anyone feeling good afterwards.
After listening to the first part of the book I could understand why we were failing. I convinced my wife that we should give this a try and we are starting to see the benefits. It is very hard to wait between chapters, but after not waiting the first time, can appreciate why.
This is not an overnight cure, you have to change to get your kids to change, but it is for the better, have patience, you need it with kids anyway!
"Some good advice"
This audiobook is read by the author. She has a calm Scandanavian voice. The book is slow going however and whilst the advice contained in it is sound and practical, it does not really lend itself to the quick reference of a book. Everything is explained step by step but It got very repetitive at times, which is partly the idea, in order to learn the techniques.
I get the feeling that if you followed this to the letter your life would be calmer and happier as a parent so it does what it says on the title, but the techniques are time consuming and a lot of hard work. This will ultimately work to your advantage as the author advises, but beer pared to go in it for the long haul. The chapter on never ask twice is the best advice I have heard on the subject of getting your kids to listen to you and do it first time! It does work, which is pretty amazing. The key is consistency, as with any of these parenting techniques.
"Interesting ideas, nice reading."
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It's nice to hear it read by the author; I think that adds something, and noelle has a very calming reading voice.
I would say that the book has plenty going for it. It prevents some interesting ideas. I certainly think the descriptive praise is worth doing. It's worth remembering, though, that parenting is not one-size-fits-all. I don't like the idea of 'rules' since we all know that if we are told we must not do something, then that's the first thing we want to do.
All in all, it's worth reading/listening to, but remember to personalise the approach for your own precious ones.
"It really works!"
This has some sound approaches to parenting and they certainly worked in our house. My only two criticisms are 1) there is a fair amount of repetition, and 2) the delivery is incredibly slow. Other than that - fab.
