What goes around comes around. Jack Nightingale learned that as a cop and discovered that it was just as true in the world of the supernatural.
His life changed forever on the day he failed to stop a young girl throwing herself to her death. Ever since, he's been haunted by thoughts that he could have done more to save her. Now her cries for help are louder than ever. Is she trapped in eternal torment? Or are the forces of darkness torturing and deceiving him in order to regain the ultimate prize - his soul?
Nightingale will have to face down the powers of the police, south London gangs, and Hell itself to find out. And evil is closer than he thinks...

"First Class"
This is a fantastic read. The characters are believable, well described, without labouring in the minute detail and the story is pacey without skipping the detail that draws the picture for the reader. The story is just the right mixture between contemporary and fantasy that remains believable and the ending keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved the book and couldnt stop listening from beginning to end. The narration was good, well read and the different voices were spot on, which added to the magic.
"Jack Nightingale trilogy"
"Nightmare" is the third part to this excellent trilogy by Stephen Leather. I listened to all three and I felt sorry when I finished this last book and look forward very much to "Nightshade" his next Supernatural thriller. The occult thread which runs through the series adds excitement to a thrilling and fast paced story and I will look forward to meeting Proserpine in the authors next book. The narrator, Paul Thornley, has read all the Jack Nightingale stories and also some of the other author's books and adds an authentic quality. You will not be disappointed if you use your credits on this series.
"a.m.a.z.i.n.g."
I have been totally addicted to this series of books and I was hooked from the 1st chapter of the first book. I have found after reading various trilogies that the third book usually is not a patch on the previous two but with this book it seriously isn’t the case. The narrator is fantastic and one of the best I have listened to, he gives all the characters their own voice.
This book has you laughing and crying and virtually screaming at the characters “Don’t look behind you!”
I would totally recommend this book to anyone, and if I could give it more than five stars I would.
"Top Notch Listen"
Another great story in the Nightingale series, with as usual excellent narration by Paul Thornley; who as others have commented really has a knack of bringing the "players" to life with his excellent characterisation. The story has some really gut wrenching twists and I was pleased to see that this was not the last in the series; however I disagree with the author's website view that this story tied up all the loose ends, as I think it undid a couple which Nightingale must now address, and I look forward to hearing how he does it.
