"Expect the unexpected."
Wasn't expecting such a spine chilling listen. As Libby, the second wife found and read the diaries of Eve the dead first wife I thought I could guess where this story was going...how wrong I was, much to my delight! The narration was brilliant, the delivery added to experience, I am sure had I been eye reading I would have given excited animated voices which would have been very wrong. The ending, again not the expected gave me great satisfaction, a quiet justice. I recommend this listen to everyone, didn't even come close to guessing.
"fantastic fantastic brilliant fantastic"
This story started gently, but, a la Ms Koomson style, you really really will not be disappointed-trust me-you won't need to wait long for the tension to start!
I loved Eve so much and think she was such a strong character.
I could not pull my ear plugs out-the house has never been cleaner, and the garden no tidier...
The narrator was perfect for this stort-which was not long enough.
Well done Dorothy Koomson
"Read it, you'll love it"
I don't tend to read love/rom-com stories (which i thought this may be) but there was something about this and I'm so glad I gave it a go. It's very well written, it builds up incredibly well and there's some side plot without distracting from the main story. I love how she layers the characters and story up. I did not want to sleep as I was so desperate to hear what happened next. Eve is an incredible character, strong and believable. It's a very human story, I know it could all happen but is still shocking to have the details held up for you to examine.
I loved this book. The narrator was excellent - her expressions and the accents and voices she used added so much to an already addictive story. The two main female characters were very likeable and the story moved at a fast pace with no let up. I didn't want to stop listening and was sorry when it was over. Thought provoking, sweet and sinister all in one book!
This was my first Dorothy Koomson book and I will definitely look up more of them. I really enjoyed the story and found myself exclaiming out loud as the story unfolded. The characters were very likeable and the story well told.
A good book which keeps you hanging on with twists and turns. A interesting story which you get sucked into. I look forward to more of her books.
Well I was expecting just a gentle romance story - but this book is much better than that. The characters were so real and the things that happened to them. The narration superb - she really brought everyone to life, especially Eve. As the story moves on so does the tension. A few twists in the story towards the end. I really didn't want to stop listening to this one and forever had my earplugs in, I even fell asleep listening. If I had read it in book form I would describe it as unputdownable!
This was an excellent book. I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. The narrator was very easy to listen to.
Brilliant, sad, really well written totally got me wanting to know what was going to happen!,
"First class writer"
Dorothy Koomson is a first class writer and this book kept me gripped from start to end. The ending was unexpected and excellent. Adjoa Andoh is probably one of the best narrators I have ever listened to with a fantastic range of accents and tones. I loved this book and will be looking out for more.
