The bed and breakfast was hidden in the hills of West Virginia. Wary guests wondered how it could stay in business at such a creepy, remote location, especially with its bizarre, presidential decor and eccentric proprietor. With the event hotel for the national Iron Woman triathlon accidentally overbooked, competitor Maria was forced to stay at the Rushmore. But after checking into her room, she quickly realized she wasn't alone.
First her suitcase wasn't where she put it. Then her cell phone was moved. Finally, she heard an odd creaking under the bed. Confusion quickly turned to fear, and fear to hysteria when she discovered the front door was barred and the windows were bricked over. There was no way out.
One year later, four new female athletes have become guests of the Inn. Will they escape the horrors within its walls? Or will they join the many others who have died there, in ways too terrible to imagine?

"endurance"
Before i purchased this book i had a listen to the narrator,as i think this is most important when listening to audio. At first i thought no way can i listen to that old deep south twang, but the story sounded so good,so i took a risk, thank god i did as it goes the narrator was in fact perfect for this kind of story, its gripping, disturbing and i think it would make a excellent film!!
If you are not in to the sort of inbreed type films then do not listen, you need a hard stomach too,as it is quite Gross in parts.
I enjoyed every minute highly recommended.
"Trapped with Triathletes"
As the title suggests, this was very similar to his other book 'Trapped'. Triathletes trapped in a Psycho-esque house with Deliverence-type hillbillies. Pretty graphic in the nasty parts, be warned.
"Endurance by Jack Kilborn"
I do hope that this is meant to be a parody of a splatter/gore/blood&entrails thriller. If so the author really succeeded. It is so gross I laughed my head off - !!
I do admit I chose the book for the reader, Christopher Lane. He is EXCELLENT and is the only reason for me to listen to this book. He gets ***** for his performance.
"Not a dull moment!"
Wow, I loved this! It's odd because, for a horror novel, it's not actually very scary. It's pretty obvious from the start what is going to happen because it's the same as every other horror story, but strangely that doesn't detract from it. It is extremely gorey, very blackly comic in places and touching in others. There is good character development for a novel of this type, although many of the bad guys are completely unbelievable - that was quite a relief as I'm not a fan of exploring the psychology of the baddies too deeply. Quite a lot else is unbelievable, especially how many injuries people can take and still live, but I suppose it's hard to write a horror story without that.
The narration is brilliant, one of the best I've heard. Christopher Lane has just the right accent and tone for a story like this and he puts on good voices for the different characters.
I really recommend this for fans of gore, but not for people who prefer subtle psychological terror from horror.
"Brilliant read...'' Wrong turn'' as a book!"
Again my second novel by this author (will work my way through his books now, as so far I have loved all of them!) This book, for me was made by not only the brilliant (and like someone said, not original but hey, some stories just work so why not do them over again!) storyline but also the characters. Very likeable and you do root for them... And they certainly need rooting for as by now I have realised that these books are not mild but full on terror need to get out of there situations. Very thrilling which of course is only made moreso by the authors ability to create a scene and bring you into the horror!
If you enjoyed at all the theme to the film Wrong Turn.. Then you will absolutely love this. Brilliant fast paced book.
"Top gore"
Jack Kilborn is a sick puppy. I like to listen to my audio books on the daily commute but a couple of times I had to sit in silence as the gore/suspense got too much.
Great stuff.
"A fun listening"
Although not at all original, this book was very enjoyable, especially because of the narrator. One can tell the author took his pain writing it so, although a very abused genre, it still has some original moments and also some funny ones. If you enjoy splatter and the inbred-horror plots this book is for you. If you don't like blood, avoid it. Lots of strong female characters as well, which is very refreshing. So, hard to put down but nothing groundbreaking.
"So glad I wasn't on the character list.."
After listening to Trapped, I could not wait to download another Kilborn title and 'Endurance' certainly did not disappoint. The storyline is amazing and kept me gripped throughout the entire book. Christopher Lane has done an excellent job in narrating this book and certainly brings all of the characters to life, and at times perhaps even more so. The story is so fast and unpredictable, just when you think your getting somewhere, you're never quite there yet and find yourself somewhere else instead - Quentin Tarrantino eat your heart out. A brilliant book!! Thank you.
