Publisher's Summary

The name's Alan, Alan Partridge. They say the art of conversation is dead but I've rescued the drowning chat. Years ago I asked the BBC if I could host my own show and they said, "Alan you can't. It won't work." I said, "I can and it will." I have. It does (work that is). This is it. Listen. Learn and Listen some more. Ah-haah!

Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge, "the chat show host from hell", in two programmes from the cult radio comedy of the 90s which gave rise to the BBC television series of the same name.

"5 for the comedy, minus 1 for value"

Come on you must know who Alan Partridge is? He's the comedy creation that made Steve Coogan a rich man. Still not ringing any bells? This mid 90's BBC radio series stars Coogan as spoof talk show host Partridge gloriously sending up the likes of Richard Madley and that bloke who used to present Police. Camera. Action! before he got shopped for drink driving. It came along at just the right time to make the maximum impact on the country, a time when we had all just about figured out we were sick of Wogan, Aspell and the like. This CD features the 2 best episodes of the series which still sound funny and sharp. The only critisim is that you don't get much for your money with 54 mins of playing time. It's high time the BBC repackaged this into a complete series.
But as it is stands it's still well worth your attention and no British Radio comedy fan should be with out it.

    Story
    "Aha!"

The eponymous chat show host shatters every convention of poitical correctness in this wonderful version of the hit radio show. He smacks a gifted child, gets hypnostised and aids in the death of a peer of the realm. Coogan's unabashed egotism combined with his intellectual inability provide a hilarious antidote to the pathetic idolatory of all the current chat shows.
