Publisher's Summary

Here is one of the greatest English comic novels read by incontrovertible king of English comic audiobook readers, Martin Jarvis. Three men, worried about their health and in search of different experiences, set off 'up the river' in a boat. Jerome's delightful novel, dating from 1900, paints a vivid picture of innocent fun.

"Marvellous reading of a classic comedy"

Maartin Jarvis' reading of this is fantastic! He is one of the greatest narrators of them all.

    "Jerome and Jarvis"

Combine the wit and lazy day descriptiveness of Jerome K Jerome with the mellifluous Martin Jarvis and you have the perfect recipe for the ultimate escape. Close your eyes and you are the fourth man (not including the dog) in the boat wending your way along the Thames, traveling at a more tranquil time and at a slower pace than is allowed today. Simply wonderful.

    "A 'classic' book"

Originally, I gave this book a lower rating. The reason I've changed my mind is because I've come to realise the book just wasn't for me. I had this recommended to me by my parents as "really funny". I think it's maybe a generation thing. I stuck it out until the end, and the ending is mainly what brings it down a star. It's a bit of a washout for me. At no point did I feel "engaged".
