"Interesting Times, Good Times"
There are just too many things I love about this story. It makes me laugh and smile and cry and want to kill the bad guys. It also shows how much like warfare teaching really is. The organised and polite rebellion is delightfully sweet and completely ridiculous. And just when things couldn?t get any worse here comes the world?s worst wizard and a hoard of (silver) barbarians. Not to mention there?s always the butterfly?.
"Vintage Pratchett"
If you're a terry Pratchett fan then this is a welcome addition to your audio book collection. Interesting Times is a classic Disckworld novel, with the return of rincewind the Wizzard, Twoflower, Cohen and The Luggage. That said, it doesn't quite match up to the previous Rincewind books and feels unusually by the numbers for a Pratchett novel, although an average Pratchett is still a very worthy listen indeed.
Nigel Planer does his usual excellent job as Narrator, with a vocal style that matches the source material perfectly and draws you into the story beautifully.
"Another excellent Pratchett"
If any of you are at all familiar with Pratchett's work you will know of the wizard Rincewind, if not, get The colour of Magic and become so. This I think is possibly one of Pratchett's best involving the most useless and cowardly wizard in all of literary history, while The last Continent may be funnier, Interesting Times is more thought provoking, while still remaining incredibly amusing as always.
