Publisher's Summary

Time is a resource. Everyone knows it has to be managed. And on the Discworld that is the job of the Monks of History, who store it and pump it from the places where it's wasted (like the underwater; how much time does a codfish need?) to places like cities, where there's never enough time. But the construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time for Lu Tze and his apprentice, Lobsang Ludd. Because it will stop time. And that will only be the start of everyone's problems.

Thief of Time comes complete with a full supporting cast of heroes, villains, yetis, martial artists, and Ronnie, the fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse (who left before they became famous).

    "Brilliant -"

clever and funny and compassionate and makes one's world somehow less cruel and stupid.
God bless Sir Saint Terry. I have been an enthusiastic fan since I stumbled upon his 2nd book. He is the only author I bought in hard back in my lowly paid years. Little cash versus a wait - no contest.
Anyhow and however, in print this had been one of my lower rated diskworld novels. As an audiobook it is in my top3.
Stephen Briggs narration is clear and perfectly paced. The characters are "just right" for my imagination and well demarkated but unobtrusively so.

"Good read - brilliant listen -again and again."

I love Terry Pratchett and have eagerly awaited and bought his books since his first paperback publication.

Thought this was one of his better books and thoroughly enjoyed the reading but was astonished at how I got something different from the audiobook. In fact I got much more.

Looking back getting this was a mistake because my spending on audiobooks then escalated.

Stephen Briggs is an excellent Pratchett narrator and wish he could redo some of the previously recorded books. Nigel Planer was very good but the technology has improved noticeably. (plus I prefer S Briggs - his voice characterisation is closer to the characters in my imagination.

    "Love Discworld!"

Another great story of the discworld. I've read them all, and am working through the audio books during long journeys. Love Pratchett's work, and after Tony Robinson this is easily my favourite narrator.

This is one of my least favourite books of the series, but came alive more with another retelling. Would recommend. Good quality audio too

    "Thief of Time"

I think the ideas in this book are brilliant. Having read the book some years ago, I decided that I must listen to someone reading it. So I have now listened to it twice and usually have to drag myself away to do something else, like eat :-). There are so many ideas in all Terry Pratchett's books and he keeps me smiling all the time. I particularly love this book. The thought of some of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse settling down to a mundane life is, in itself hoot, but to then invent a fifth horseman, who decided to become a milkman is so crazy. Add to the mix the auditors of the universe with their total lack of a sense of humour is perhaps prophetic :-) . In my view, a must read.

    "Awesome"

My favourite TP book, great themes and caricatures throughout. I love this book and have read it several times. Wanted to start again soon as I had finished it. Will definitely get my monies worth on this one.
