Editor reviews

Eloquent, engrossing and fabulous – Stardust, written by award-winning English author and screenwriter, Neil Gaiman, is a modern fiction unabridged audiobook with hints of a contemporary fairytale, perfectly narrated by Gaiman himself. Now also a major Paramount Pictures film with a star-studded cast. This enchanting story is set at the very blossoming of the great Victorian era and follows the tale of one young man and his impossible quest to capture a shooting star in order to have the heart and the hand of his one true love. This book is immensely enjoyable. Download from Audible now.

Summary

A FAIRY TALE FOR EVERYONE.

THE ACCLAIMED, ENCHANTING FILM ADAPTATION STARS ROBERT DE NIRO, CLAIRE DANES, RUPERT EVERETT, MICHELLE PFEIFFER AND MANY MORE FAVOURITES....

At the dawn of the Victorian era, life moves leisurely in the sleepy village of Wall.

Young Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the beautiful Victoria Forester and, to win her love, vows to bring her a star they see fall from the night sky.

It is an oath that sends him over the town's ancient wall and into the mysterious land of Faerie - a world that is dangerous and strange beyond imagining....

Critic reviews

"Gaiman's silver-tongued narration vividly brings this production to life. Like the bards of old, Gaiman is equally proficient at telling tales as he is at writing them, and his pleasant British accent feels like a perfect match to the material." (Publishers Weekly)

"A fairy tale for everyone from 'one of the best fabulists of our age." (Financial Times)

"Beyond all the borders that divide us, there is a place of infinite possibilities and pure magic. I think of Neil Gaiman as a writer who wears the key to that land around his neck - the key to Storyland." (Elif Shafak)

Beautifully narrated by Neil Gaiman

Although a bit different from the movie, this was a wonderful listen that put a smile on my face. Neil Gaiman is one of the best author narrators around and listening to this was pure joy!

Great fun

I ordered this book because I love the film that they adapted from it however the first thing to note is that the story is quite different in places. This is not a negative however and I found it thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. Excellently written and narrated by Gaiman, I would highly recommend.

A pleasant listening experience indeed

Having the author read the book is always a special experience and the extra interview at the end was a lovely way to finish up.

Stardust is a fabulous adult fantasy

I love Phillip Pullman and late to the table with Neil Gaiman. Stardust is gripping I could not stop listening. It twists it turns its slow and magical tense and imaginative.

Fab listen

Love this book, love Neil's narration. A great grown up fairy tale set in Farie and England. Lots of baddies and lots of innovative ideas.
If you want to while away a few hours, this is the book to take you to another world.

Not Interesting Enough

The story is not captivating at all, the persons are not believable aka they are somehow quite lifeless. I listened the book to the end in wait to have something exiting or lovable or at least something towards the end of the story but alas no. The story and the characters are not bad or the story is not badly written but it is, sad to say, boring as a whole.
