Summary

The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan.

Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war. Her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through perilous years ahead - or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

Spellbinding novel of love, intrigue and fantasy

I loved this part of the series featuring Claire and Jamie. Although the author does tend to go off on a tangent sometimes as she des robes things , it worthwhile persevering . The whole series of books for this intriguing story left me spell bound. The narrator made the characters so real . Without her, the book could have become a little bit boring in places. I loved the whole story line, sub plots and foreshadowing of characters . I feel a bit sad now it’s all come together and it’s ended. Read all the books to this intriguing romance.,where time has no boundary’s.

A really enjoyable story

Another great story from Diana Gabaldon. It slightly lost its way in one or two places but kept me wanting to listen to find out what would happen next. Davina Porter is also a great narrator who cleverly uses different accents for the different characters. I would like to read other books narrated by her.

Wonderful

Don't be put off by the mammoth play time - it's worth it. Still entirely enchanted by this series of books.

the fiery cross

Another fab read from the outlander series.... audio allows you to enjoy the story & to catch the feelings of the charactors written so beautifully by Diana Gabaldon... they feel so real & the history woven into the story is great ( even if you don't have an intrest in history)…. looking forward to the next book....

Loved the book it was easy to listen to all the twists and turns of the Fraser's lives living in America in the 18th Century. A good listen and enjoy the narrators voices of the people portrayed in the book. Recommend it whole heartily, enjoy!

excellent recommended performance

enjoyed most of the book but found sections a little rambling. Could possibly have been a little shorter.

Twists, great plots and a bit of history

What made the experience of listening to The Fiery Cross the most enjoyable?

The narrator is very good, sometimes I find myself having the same experience like reading the book for myself, the scenes folding out right before my eyes, perfectly and vividly described, and delivered.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fiery Cross?

i haven't quite finished yet, but the happenings at the wedding are great.

Have you listened to any of Davina Porter’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the previous Gabaldon books and she is good as ever, she plays well with her voice.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The plot thickens
