Publisher's Summary

Six BBC TV episodes starring Rowan Atkinson, Miranda Richardson, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and Tony Robinson.

England 1558-1603. The filthy genes of the Blackadder dynasty bubble to the surface of history's melting pot as Lord Edmund, arrogant peer-about-town, swaggers with a big head and small beard in search of grace and favour from the stark raving mad Queen Bess.

Listen as Lord Blackadder falls in love with a girl named Bob, takes over the job of executioner whilst almost losing his own head, schemes to raise 1,000 pounds to pay off a perverted Bishop, goes on a far-off sea voyage to the remote country of France, and plays Charades with a member of the Spanish Inquisition.

Accompanied by a small rabble of beruffed riff-raff (bottom-breath Baldrick and pea-brain Percy) the serpentine Lord Blackadder lowers the whole tone of England's Golden Age.

The collection includes the following episodes: "Bells", "Head", "Potato", "Money", "Beer", and "Chains".

    "Superb"

The entire second series of Blackadder is available to listen to on your ipod should you wish! I remember listening to this on tape back when mp3's were nothing other than a dream. We laughed then, we laugh now but with better audio quality. This series is nothing short of brilliant. It is an amazingly well written series and every episode is available here. Rowan Atkinson and co do a supreme job. It is so very funny and feels timeless (how could it not being set in the time of Queen Elizabeth I) but remains as funny now as it did when I first heard and saw it. Fantastic.

"Classic TV works in audio form"

Blackadder is one of the funniest comedies ever, and if you're familiar with the series then just hearing the audio will not diminish your enjoyment - it almost makes it better in a way, as you're picturing the scenes as you hear it. This may not be the best introduction to the series for those who have never seen it on TV, as some jokes will be lost on them, but if you've seen it as many times as I have you will love this.

    "Blackadder II"

Really disappointed that all six episodes appear as one file so you can't select an individual episode to listen to, you have to listen to all six as on block.

    "A cunning plan indeed..."

The Blackadder series translates to audio surprisingly well and loses only a little without visuals.

This time Edmund Blackadder is part of the court of Elizabeth the first, with cunning plans by the handful only slightly hindered by the helping hands of his chum Lord Percy and his disgusting servant Baldrick.
