    "Gripping theatrical story"

This story is well told, keeping you interested with plenty of detail, plot twists, and varied characters, although some of them are a little far-fetched - rather like their names! However, anyone who has worked in theatres will be only too familiar with not only the descriptions of locations and job functions, but also some of the personnel who inhabit this world, who are brought to life by this author.

There are a number of sub-plots which maintain interest, and serve to confuse the listener from making successful guesses as to the identities of those involved in the various untoward occurrences. I found myself trying to solve the whodunnits alongside the main detective, Peter Diamond, and finding myself similarly frustrated by the new evidence and events.

The narration is good, but is if anything a little ponderous in places (not so much a problem with the new Audible Android app). It is well enunciated, and I only noticed a couple of tiny mis-speakings throughout. It is occasionally difficult to work out who is speaking from the narrator's voice characterisations, but this was not really a problem, as the context clarifies things fairly quickly.

There are one or two uses of bad language, but this is only to be expected given the setting of the action. Overall, a very enjoyable listen, which on more than one occasion kept me waiting in my car until I had heard the end of a chapter - the story really was that gripping.
