Publisher's Summary

When a NASA satellite discovers an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory, a victory with profound implications for NASA policy and the impending presidential election. To verify the authenticity of the find, the White House calls upon the skills of intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic scholar Michael Tolland, Rachel travels to the Arctic and uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery, a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy. But before she can warn the President, Rachel and Michael are ambushed by a deadly team of assassins. Fleeing for their lives across a desolate and lethal landscape, their only hope for survival is to discover who is behind this masterful plot. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all.

What the Critics Say

"Brown moves into new territory with his latest. It's an excellent thriller: a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace, with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. He's also done his research, folding in sophisticated scientific and military details that make his plot far more fulfilling than the norm." (Publishers Weekly)
"A dazzling high-tech adventure...Brown proves once again that he is among the most intelligent and dynamic of authors in the thriller genre." (Library Journal)
"This is pretty exciting stuff...and Brown certainly does have a knack for spinning a suspenseful yarn." (Booklist)

"100 impossible things to do before breakfast"

Good fairly fast paced romp of a thriller. Enoyed it though - better thought out than Angels and Demons and slightly more believable. The end again with a Dan Brown novel seems rather out of kilter with the rest of the novel - as if he isn't sure how to end a book which seems a shame after ploughing through so many hours.

"A brilliant read from Dan Brown - again!"

This is my first audible Dan Brown listen. I have read his books in the past and wasn't sure how it would go in talking book format as the story jumps around a bit. However the narrator was brilliant (as was the story line as usual) and I was hooked from the very beginning to the last sentence. A fast paced story with just the right amount of character building and action, all while hinting at past historical events that made me want to find out more about the history of our and past civilisations.

"This was my FIRST Audio book, and got me HOOKED."

I had never downloaded any audio books before, but had a long journey coming up from my home in Burgundy, back to the UK to see family. I had read some Dan Browns, but not this one, so I bought it and stuck it on the ipod, ready for the trip. What a fabulous experience it was, I did not want to stop the car, and even on the ferry, we took the ipod with us , just so we could keep listening. The Plot(s) and characters are truly masterful, and Dan Brown's novel is so well narrated, by Richard Poe, that you just can't stop listening. A SUPERB tale that will leave you hanging on the cliff edge right to the last minute.A wonderful tale, right up there with the best.
