"Finally, a refreshing change !!"
After various beginners Italian audio books, this is a refreshing change. The music used really helps with the rhythm of the words and phrases and finally an audio book that breaks words down slowly so you can make sure your pronunciation is correct.
I only get a chance to listen to audio books while driving so the opening lines of sit back and close your eyes probably wasn't a good start but it was still great to listen to while driving.
I'll be trying the other languages now.
"rapid italian"
easy to follow, and it is amasing how quickly you pick up the words, meaning and sentences, loved this way of startng to learning a new laguage.
"Earworm Works"
This was actually quite pleasant and easy to listen to. Some systems are really irritating and difficult to repeat.
Please please give us Earworm 2 for these languages asap!!
I also need Earworm Dutch asap!! I am going to have to buy one of the other Dutch ccourses instead. Earworm is a much more pleasant experience.
"Earworms Rapid Italian: Volume 1"
I thought I'd give this a go as a bit of an alternative way to learn a language having never been that successful in the past. I listened to it whilst out walking my dogs and found it really easy to get to grips with because it was in short chapters, each of which looked at talking about a particular thing (i.e. ordering food or looking for a particular shop) and each of which had it's own sound track - which the words both Italian and English were in time to. Before long I was wondering around sprouting sentences in Italian, much to the bemusement of the dogs!
The very slight downside is that the phrases it teaches you are quite limited and very much aimed at someone wanting a bit of holiday Italian, didn't help much with trying to chat to my friend's Italian boyfriend. However, there is a second volume that I'm going to move onto and it has given me the confidence to try and learn more. The music does feel a bit cheesy at times but it definitely helped it sink in.
"A good quick fix"
Like any of the language courses, you get out what you put in. This course uses a music background with a native and English speaker going over Italian phrases and words. The course tends to provide a sentence, in English, and then in Italian and then breaks down all the words in the sentence, and the pronunciations for the words. The course is similar to the other earworms courses, and if you liked one of the others I imagine you'll ; like this one.
It's not a bad idea, although the tunes are not that great, I find that I can recall some of the sentences. A good supplement for learning, or for a quick fix before heading on holiday but it is not a good standalone course.
"Brilliant way to learn Italiano"
Bought this and volume 2 and I was not disappointed. It is a bit strange at first but once you get into the way of it, it is a fantastic system for learning any language. As with any language you will need to go over it a few times - I burned it to CD and played it in the car - subliminal learning - was really surprised at how fast I learned - delighted.
I love listening to things in the car and have learned so much through audible - I now have my own wee learning mobile :-)
"Just the business"
This is really good for a quick start to a language before that first trip. It will get you going in the cafe or restaurant or asking directions in the shortest possible time. For development of the structure of the language Michel Thomas Method is then terrific to take you forward but sadly seems to be dropping off Audible books.
"Easy Listening & Refreshing"
Easy on the ears, not the normal boring language learning.
Have listened to this several times already and its starting to sink in. I later found that you can get both vol 1 & 2 from earthworm direct for almost the same price as the single from vol here.
"Hooked!"
I am hooked. I downloaded volume 1 and 2 of Italian, French & Spanish in order to brush up languages I had previously learned to varying degrees. I am already wondering what language to attack next! I travel a lot with work and have the audiobooks on as I'm driving around and am already memorising words and phrases that I'd either forgotten or never knew. I don't feel that I need a book, although I have downloaded the accompanying pdf files for reference. Almost everything I can pick up straight from the recording - just as language is acquired naturally by children - listening and repeating.
"This is just what i've been looking for!"
I have always struggled with remembering words when trying to learn a language. But within half an hour of listening I felt confident to be able to ask for a cup of tea, a milky coffee and something to eat (even my Italian cousin could understand me!) I so hate going abroad and not being able to ask for basic things. I'm not planning to take exams or even write in Italian but if like me you are just wanting basic conversation, then i would recommend this book. I love the music too!
