    Story
    "Not great, but enjoyable"

This book is slower and less eventful than I had hoped. Of an 8 hour audiobook, it took 3 hours for the protagonists to get to the entrance of the Earth and from then on it gets much better. The tale of their descent is interesting enough, with plenty of incidents to keep ones interest. Unfortunately, the whole premise of heading deep into the Earth is now dated and it should be read with the historical knowledge of the time in mind. I must admit that even then, it did undermine my enjoyment of the book. The escape back to daylight was laughable and seemed to reflect the authors waning interest in continuing the story himself.
