"What a great read"
I listened to this as an audiobook and liked it a lot. At times it had me in two minds - the fist wondering what the heck was going on, trying to work out the story, the second wondering how the author was going to pull it all together and make sense of the story. I failed on the first front, as it kept me guessing to the very end, and the author succeded on the seocnd point.
I thought this story was awesome, and if you're in two minds about getting it, I'd say definitely go for it, you won't regret it. I listen to a lot of not so great stories, this wasn't one of them! The story was from a German translation, but don't let this put you off, it doesn't detract from the story one bit.
"Kept me guessing"
Lots of twists and turns in the plot. Kept me intrigued right to the end. Liked the narrator too. Great pace. Excellent ending (as well as the beginning and middle). Very enjoyable.
"Gripped"
As other have said, its gripping, with all the twists and turns. You certainly feel sympathy for the main character and feel his dilemmas, who can he trust? Who can he turn to? What is happening? Don't let the short torture scene put you off as the rest of the story is well worth listening to. The narrator is excellent and I would listen to him again!
"Too much for me"
The synopsis sounds interesting but the torture scene in chapter 2 was too graphic for me and I'm not going to listen further.
"Enjoyable but Slightly Bizarre"
I really enjoyed the majority of this book. The storyline was quite different to what I usually read and full of twists and turns. You simply don't know what is real and who to trust. The only small downside is the reason for all of it at the end was rather far fetched but what the heck, it is fiction after all!
