Publisher's Summary

Outside of Pakistan, the world's highest concentration of al-Qaeda lurks in South-East Asia, and there Nick Stone's bosses get wind of an act of terror that will dwarf even the nightmare of 9/11. When Stone is despatched to Malaysia by the CIA to assassinate a biochemist, he expects his mission to be a straightforward part of the fight against Bin Laden. But there are complications, not least because he is working alongside an attractive woman whose motives he doesn't fully understand.

    "Not impressed"

I have listened to most of the Nick Stone tales with enjoyment and this is indeed more of the same as the previous reviewer stated, but felt disappointed with this episode, there was far too much of the ongoing saga with the teenage ward Kelly including over a chapter of flash backs and arguments with the Josh character which left me with the impression that the book was padded out to keep to a schedule of x books a quarter, I will not be in a hurry to listen to another one...shame !

    "A simple Comment"

A good read with the traditional special agent insight. Not different - just more of the same....which is good! Also a moving ending that I wasn't expecting.

    "One of the best"

Gritty but sad. The continued saga with Kelly shows Nick Stone to be human. We all have silent conversations about our families however macho we are. This book is one of the best. He has a love, a worry, a partner to work with that is new to him and shows him to be a great all round good guy.

    "Reccommended"

Classic McNab. You get what you expect - dirty, gritty violence and the ending you were waiting for.

Not pleasant stuff, but a good listen, if you like this kind of thing; which I do.

    "Another great listen"

Nick Stone continues in his job, this time to retrieve 'Dark Winter' (listen to the book to hear what DW is!)

Clive Mantle is a great narrator and keeps you really engrossed and you get sucked into the powerful and sometimes disturbing storyline that McNab has written.

Even if you have not listened to other stories in this series you will not have any problems of 'ongoing' story lines, Andy McNab has the skill of keeping each book and enjoyable listen on it's own or as part of a set for a hardened fan.

This book is good to listen to on a dark evening as you can really visualise what the author and narrator are trying to portray with wonderful rich vocabulary and descriptions.

    "Best McNab by far"

This book is by far the best McNab, Clive Mantle does a great job of reading for the audio book, unlike some of the other McNab books this one really gets into the head of Nick Stone.
