The Rumpole series is absolutely brilliant and, having listened to some other versions, I would recommend that you always go for the ones read by Bill Wallis who IS Rumpole as per the television series. John Mortimer is one of the wittiest writers (or was, sadly) and Rumpole's antics will have you laughing out loud!

"Rumpole, My Rumpole"
Was driving from Manchester to Aberdeen and wanted some easy listening, saw Rumpole and thought i liked the TV series so why not, funniest thing I’ve heard for years even sat in the car for a further 20 minutes on arrival at the hotel to finish a story.

"Pure bliss"
Listening to this is like double cream on strawberries - nothing new or surprising but utterly delightful. A wonderful way to spend a few hours.

"Rumpole's Last Case."
The curious and enigmatic world at Chambers are as funny and comfortable as a well known anecdote.
All the usual suspects come to the fore as hoped for and expected, especially the revered, " She who must be obeyed "
The mellow voice and delivery of Bill Wallis provide just the right balance to these well loved stories.
I listened on a plane journey from Leeds to Spain and the time simply flew by.I did find, however, that the flight attendant's drinks service was not so much of an intrusion as usual !0 of 0 people found this review helpful
