Publisher's Summary

Part Two of The Wise Man's Fear, sequel to the extraordinary The Name of The Wind, The Wise Man's Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss. This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, and a must for all fans of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Picking up the tale of Kvothe King killer once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic... and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord. Sent by the Maer to hunt bandits, Kvothe finds his body, mind and magic pushed to limits he's never before experienced. Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of The Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans. Engaging and gripping The Wise Man's Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

"It stole me away... next book please!!!"

Wow! why oh why do I have to wait for the 3rd book! feel sort of empty now :'(

I have always been a huge fan of audio books, ever since listening to them as a young boy.

However now 21, it seemed I had slowly moved away from story books as my life matured...

It was only a whim and a decision based on the positive reviews of both Patrick Rothfuss books that I made the plunge and bought them both, and THANK GOD I did! Never have I fallen so deeply in love with a story. So expertly and masterfully read by Rupert Degas I must say.

It had me laughing, shaking with anger, teary eyed and on occasions even somewhat jealous! ;) Right from the first book through till the last chapter of the second book. That's no exaggeration.

If you are doubtful, do what I did and take a leap of faith, you wont ever look back I promise.

    "A Song of a book!!"

Patrick Rothfuss's storytelling is so powerful, so strong.
Capturing its essence is not easy - to me, this novel is a dance between light and darkness. A symphony of a story. It takes you to a place within yourself...

I have had the pleasure to listen to both books of this trilogy and anticipate the third eagerly...

"This is a brilliant second part to the trilogy"

If you liked the first book then you will love "The wise man's fear". Brilliantly written captivating story line and rich deep characters. Can't wait for the final installment of the "King Killer Chronicles".

"Excellent and capturing story - what a joy!!!"

I have purchased both books in the series without prior knowledge of the book. It has been an excellent choice. I have become big fan of Patrick Rothfuss and cannot wait for the third installment. Rupert Degas is narrating this book and it adds to the enjoyment. He is the best narrator I have come across in the past three years. I will be searching also for books being read by him.

    Highly recommended overall.

    "Incredible"

I could write lots. In fact I did. Instead, I'll just say these few things:

    1. If you read the first, then you're mind is made up to get this as well. My review is simply stalling you.

    2. If you haven't read the first one then get them both, or read my review, then get them both.

This was perhaps one of the best audio book series I've ever listened to, if not the best. The story is gripping and beautifully written. Despite the synopsis given, it is far from a glamorous hero novel and there is peril and tragedy at every turn. The narration is stunning and varied, Degas has clearly worked incredibly hard and it shows as I realised toward the end, I thought of the voice as Knvothe's not an actor playing a character.

    Enjoy!

    "Absolutely brilliant"

I enjoyed this story immensely. I love the huge detail, the links, the way people act and think - it's all portrayed with depth and style. Cultures are described (with interesting ideas and thoughts) the magic is difficult and can have a cost. Rupert Degas does a really fabulous job of reading the story. It really couldn't be better.

Listen to it - you (probably) won't be disappointed. If you enjoyed Book 1 (Name of the Wind) you definitely won't be.

    "Epic - I couldn't stop listening"

Another absolute epic of a book by Patrick Rothfuss - I have reached the end in record time. Devastated to learn the next part won't be released until 2013...
