Publisher's Summary

The Office of the Public Defender is not known as a training ground for bright young litigators. When Carter takes the case of a man charged with a street killing, he assumes it's just another senseless murder that hits Washington DC every week.

    "Really enjoyable"

It took me an hour to really start to enjoy it but I found myself inside Clay Carters life. It was fantastic.

"Interesting story but little narrative tension"

I enjoy this author's books, including this one. My lower rating is because I think not everybody would be as interested as I am in detailed accounts of class-actions against companies, particularly drug manufacturers. Other Grisham novels usually build up to a nail-biting finish with up and downs for the main characters, whereas this book just fades out. The narrator is good and certainly helps to make it a good listen.
