On an ordinary spring day, Special Agent Faith Mitchell of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation returns home to a nightmare. Expecting to find her mother minding Faith's new baby daughter Emma, she is horrified to discover Emma locked in the shed, her mother's safe open, her gun missing and a trail of blood to the front door. Without waiting for back-up, Faith enters the house to a scene of carnage. It has been torn apart and a man lies dead in a pool of blood. She stumbles across two more intruders, and within minutes they too are shot dead. And when the Atlanta police force turns up, Faith has some difficult questions to answer. But she has some desperate questions of her own. What were the killers searching for? Ex-Atlanta police Chief Evelyn Mitchell was once under investigation by Faith's partner Will Trent. Is her mother directly involved this time, and where is she now?
With Faith suspended from duty, Will, together with the help of Dr. Sara Linton, must piece together the fragments of a brutal and complicated case - and catch a deeply troubled and vicious murderer with only one thing on his mind. To keep on killing until the truth is finally revealed...

"Excellent"
Couldn't wait to get back to this every time I had to turn it off - well read, and a really good book. A treat!
"Another brilliant Karin Slaughter novel"
I have read or listened to every book so far, and am never disappointed - in fact I find myself waiting for new releases! Fallen is no exception, fast paced, tense, funny at times, and characters I just love. I'm always left wanting more.
"Brilliant!"
If you're familiar with the characters then this is the book for you! The development of the relationships between Will and the woment in his life weaves a tangled web which leaves you constantly wondering which way it'll turn next. Action packed, great one liners and a twist you don't see coming. Lots of clever detail which leads you on perfectly to the next book in the series.
"Enjoyable"
Having never read anything by karin Slaughter befor I thought I'd give it a go as saw mixed but mainly good reviews and must say I was impressed, I really enjoyed the story it kept my interest and did not find it predictable which is always a plus. Also enjoyed the narrator and would listen to more from both karin and the narrator Jennifer Woodward.
"Fallen"
Got this on sale. Just as well as it was predictable. Listen to in a flash. Nothing I hadn't read before.
"Great book - Wrong Narrator"
Loved the book but the narrator's voice for some of the characters was grating and quite frankly irritating. Jennifer's voice for the main character Faith was so high pitched it almost made my ears bleed so thank God the story was interesting enough for me to tolerate it and her male voices especially for Caleb and Jeremy and quite frankly all the young men were terrible. This book suited a male and female narrator - it was too much for Jennifer and frankly spoiled the total enjoyment of the book for me.
"Enjoyable but typically American."
This is a good yarn and not boring with a few unexpected twists in the story. It's the characters who let the book down for me, it's too full of self doubt, self loathing and odd backgrounds to be true - not one normal childhood upbringing to be found!
Still, I enjoyed the story and recommend it as a thriller even though some of the characters were a tad irritating.
