Detective Superintendent Roy Grace is investigating the bizarre slaying of Katie Bishop, a member of Brighton's social elite. Her husband Brian appears to be in the clear - he was in another town at the time, sound asleep. But Grace begins to suspect the presence of a doppelganger: is someone else - almost identical to Bishop - involved in the crime?
Grace's diligent exhuming of murky secrets soon demonstrates that the Bishops' outwardly settled lives had darker corners. And as Grace gets close to the truth, he finds - paradoxically - that it's his own beleaguered private life which is on the line.

"Not Dead Enough"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as you are constantly trying to piece the plot together until the very end.
The narrator was excellent.
"Great listening"
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Good reader. Fascinating plot that kept making me change my mind about what had really happened. Exciting right to the end.
"fantastic thriller"
Fantastic listen, good plot and well written.
I really enjoyed this audio book, and I love a good thriller.
"Fantastic"
Took a flyer at this after an email from Audible suggesting trying some new authors. The feedback from others seemed good (thanks!) and now I agree the rave reviews are totally justified.
Excellent plot that keeps you guessing all the way. Whether it was the author/writing or both I am usure; but the detail brought this book vividly to life in my mind all the way through. I can still picture the scenes and characters.
Am downloading another Peter James right now !
"Terrific"
This is the third 'Roy Grace' book that I have read now, although I had to read the paperback version of book two because audible do not have the unabridged version. Initially I thought that this volume was a little bit on the slow side, but I needn't have worried; the pace soon picked up. As with the previous two stories, after the half way point I was unable to stop listening until I had reached the end. Peter James has the ability to lead you by the nose through the world that he's created. What a time thief! Can't wait to download story number four.
"Entertaining"
Having read this author before and enjoyed the characters I sort of knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. Enjoyed both the story and the narration and had to keep listening to it at every opportunity to get to the end. Recommendable
"Fab listening of a DS Roy Grace Mystery"
I was hooked straight away. Yet again Peter James delivers. Had to tear myself away to eat, sleep etc....
If you want to get lost in a book this is it.
"Excellent"
Excellent thriller, couldn't stop listening. The plot and the writing is excellent, Peter James is very clever. Kept me guessing until the end. Really recommended
"For once I disagree with the majority"
Book's functionally written and perfectly well read, but actual story is a little bit *shakey-hand*
The 'twist' is spotted a mile out and whilst I was hoping I was wrong, I wasn't. Just to compound the obvious twist, there's very little explanation after the grand reveal. Just feel the author had a half-baked idea and banged out a book around it.
"Roy Crace, Another Great Read!"
This is another great book in the Roy Grace series. I love the detail in his descriptions and how he builds the picture, grabbing your feelings and pulling you into the book. Another great plot and looking forward to reading book 6 & 7!
