"Fantastic Read and wonderfully read by the Author"
I have been waiting for ages to have Bogarde's autobiographical books available (I have them all on cassette but no longer a good way to listen to them. I hope that the rest (Backcloth, An Orderly Man etc) will become available soon as well as his novels - I will purchase them all!

"A nostalgic trip back in time"
Dirk Bogarde's marvelous voice is so relaxing as he reads his enchanting story of long, carefree, summer days of his youth. You can almost feel that you are there with him and his sister and the reminiscences took me right back to my own childhood. Dirk Bogarde will always be remembered as one of this country's finest actors and should also get credit for being a great author. I really enjoyed this audio book and just know I shall revisit it several times.

"A journey back in time"
This wonderful book of the childhood memories of Dirk Bogarde takes me back to the tiny details of my own youth in the Dorset countryside of the 1950s. Read by the author, Dirk Bogarde has such a familiar and warm reading voice, that he makes it come doubly alive. His snatches of conversation with his sister are so real. His depictions of the countryside so vivid. His recollections of his beginnings in the theatre totally without pretention or name dropping. What a real pleasure it has been to listen to him. I shall certainly download the other books in the series.

"Blissful"
Dirk Bogarde takes you by the hand and leads you through his childhood with ease - I love all his books but those which centre on his time as a child in the rosy days betwixt the wars are especially precious - to think his agent wanted him to take a more 'adult' approach ? - thank heaven he didn't listen - but you should - wonderful stuff.
