Michael Palin reads his own account of an epic journey across the Himalaya. The greatest mountain range on earth, it includes the Khyber Pass and the Silk Road, the mighty peaks of Everest and K2, and the gorges of the Yangtze. He passed through a fascinatingly mixed bag of countries: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, and secretive mountain kingdoms like Nepal, as well as one of the most volatile regions in the world, Kashmir.

"Thoroughly Enjoyable"
This book exceeded my expectations, when you have Michael Palin and Travel, you know you are on a winner but I got far mor out of this than I expected. Once again Michael's style and great descriptions make you feel as if you are travelling with him. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I can recommend it to anyone.
"Complements the TV"
Excellent book told with clarity and pace.
"Be careful to download the right format!"
As ever, Michael Palin is a great narrator for his own book (as if there was any doubt). The only thing I would caution is to NOT download the Enhanced format of Part two. It's missing about 18 minutes. You jump a whole section in the middle dealing with the entry into China. If you download format 4, you have the whole book.
"Himalaya"
Most people have probably seen Michael Palin's travel shows on TV but if you haven't tried one of the accompanying audiobooks yet, you really should. I think they are brilliant. And Himalaya is definitely one of the best. It is narrated by Michael Palin too, which makes it even better.
His descriptions of the people he meets along the way are great and he brilliantly describes the arduous climb when he was feeling ill. It's just fantastic, you can almost imagine being there.
"Totally Engrossing"
Palin has a way, his very own way of taking you through the journey with him, entertaining you every step of the way. A must have for anyone interested in travel.
"Descriptive"
I have never read/listened/watched anything from Palin before, this was an interesting journey and is read well.
It's light listening as you do not have to pay too close attention for the entirety of the book.
"Great Palin and travel commentary"
Best Palin audio-book I have listened to so far, great that it is unabridged too. Palin is just so dam pleasnt to listen to and often very funny indeed. Well worth a listen, makes me want to travel!
