Publisher's Summary

For over 40 years, Christopher Hitchens wrote, with passionate commitment, on matters that others feared to broach. This assortment of essays spans his whole career and encompasses his writing on politics, literature, and religion. It is the most comprehensive collection of Hitchens' work, and contains all aspects of his wide repertoire as journalist, polemicist, and critic.

Divided into sections such as "All American", "Eclectic Affinities", and "Foreign Quarrels", it contains his views on subjects ranging from Clinton to Kissinger, Powell to Proust. Hitchens' life was one of defiance, wit, courage, and humility. He was a voice of reason, making his indelible and brilliant mark on politics and literature on both sides of the Atlantic. While his many books exist as a formidable legacy, it is his mastery of short-form journalism and criticism that constitute his lasting claim to greatness - and make Arguably a unique and not-to-be-missed anthology.

    "A truly fantastic polemical"

I downloaded this audio book after reading several of Hitchens books. I can unequivocally state that I was not disappointed. He writes with acerbic wit, never shirking in saying what he thinks heedless of those he may anger. More often than not, his analysis is accurate and thought provoking.

Agree with him or not, he is worth listening to!

    "A great mind"

After having listened to two other titles written and read by Christopher Hitchens this finished off an insatiable desire to hear this mans views on a wide range of topics. Also worth looking up his work on youtube in the defence of atheism. Agreat mind which will be badly missed.

    "A Great Mind"

While I wouldn't say in this collection of essays that there's something for everyone, it's almost the case.

Hitchens is a great writer with a great mind who was taken from us too soon. Even when he expresses an opinion you don't agree with he puts it so well that you can't help but nod your head.

Simple put - this collection of essays has made me smarter, as all of Hitchens works have done.
