Summary

The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy: Bloody Promise, the fourth title in the Vampire Academy series and a teen romance with real bite....

How far will Rose go to keep a promise? The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir's Academy was the deadliest ever in the school's history, claiming the lives of many. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them - including Dimitri. He'd rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa - the one she has sworn to protect no matter what - and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

Read by the actress Emily Shaffer.

Story is amazing…narration is…meh

TL;DR - narrators “British” Adrian accent is SO cringey. Hard to listen to it. They’ve added even more sound effects into this one which is awful. It gets overwhelming and brings me out of the story. Story is superb.

I am gutted that this narrator is doing the next two books. I’m going to have to take a break and prepare myself i think. She does Rose pretty well, and her Russian accent is fine. But I know Adrian features more heavily in these next two books and her “British” (??) accent is sooooo cringey. I’m not sure if she’s using this as a way to test doing a British accent but I’d recommend she visits England outside of “posh” London - if that’s the accent she’s going for.

I also really really dislike that they’ve added even more sound effects! Like the ridiculous piano at the beginning and end isn’t bad enough. It’s very overwhelming having music playing in the background suddenly when you’re trying to listen to the story. I understand why they’ve done it - like when a strifgoi attack is happening it “adds suspense” and when Rose goes to Lissa it signifies a change in state almost. But I personally hated it and found it very distracting.

The story is superb however and I’m just happy I get to relive them all via audio book! :)

Brilliant but wish they stuck to previous narrator

Love love love these books! I'm hooked! But, the narrator in the first few books were brilliant. It's really annoying hearing certain characters accents read one way for three books and then for them to suddenly change the whole way that character is read in the last few books just isn't great. It's irritating actually. Adrian and Demitri's accents were spot on in the first few books. Now adrian sounds like a very old Oxford university up his own ass character and demitri has this strong Russian accent...just why?

Great story, irritating narration

I loved the story but in contrast to the previous
books I have purchased, this narrator was very irritating. I intensely disliked the strange and badly performed British accent she gave Adrian but the real travesty was the awful valley girl accent she gave to Avery. it was almost unbearable, like nails on a chalkboard and I very nearly abandoned the book as a result. The story is still compelling, the characters are well drawn but the narration really let this down for me.

The best Narrator yet

I love these books and have read them countless times and wanted to give the Audio books a try. With the previous once I found the Narrators voice distracting and it would take awhile to get used to and then in the next book it would be someone else equally distracting and somewhat irritating, but I instantly warmed to Emily’s voice and accepted this is the voice of Rose Hathaway

Way better than the first books!

I wasn't sure I wanted to keep reading after the first two books, since I thought they were a bit childish. But book three and especially four are much better. Still, some dialogues are a bit cringy, but the story is absolutely gripping.

Great series

Loved the story as usual yet although I don''t have anything negative to say about the narrator you kind of get used to the previous performances and it then doesn't have the same feel when it changes
