"BETTER THAN THE FIRST"
SO FAR SO GOOD. I THOUGHT THE FIRST BOOK WAS GOOD BUT THIS ONE IS EVEN BETTER. THERES MORE ACTION, MORE DRAMA, AND ANOTHER LOVE INTEREST. DEFINITLY WORTH IT.
"So glad I gave this a 2nd chance"
This has been sitting in my library for well over a year and I finally decided to give it another try. I am so glad I did! This was so much better than the first book, which I thought was just ok. In this 2nd installment we get more background on the Trylle and the Vittra which made this book so much more interesting. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to immediately purchase and listen to the final book in the series as well. Thank goodness for second chances….
"Better than the first but still"
I liked Loki and Tove best and Wendy the least
Yes only if they want to complete the Trylle series like me
I liked any scene with Loki in it. I really liked him.
Yes because there some unanswered questions and it didn't feel like the story was finished.
Torn was better than the first but it still didn't grab me like other books did. I liked it but Wendy's drama is too much for me.
I love that the books connect well to her other series, The Kanin Chronicles, but I wish we were given the insight to read these first, then the Kanin Chronicles.
The books are all narrated well.
Wendy, or Finn
continue to pursue Amanda Hocking's books/series
"Kidnapping and love triangle"
In the space of a few weeks, Wendy’s life has been turned upside down. She’s discovered that the family she grew up with all her life were never really hers, and the one from which she comes has more secrets and politics than she can stand. To top it all off, she’s fallen in love with her tracker, Finn, who’s strictly off limits, and she’s already been in more than one battle with the Vittra, who are determined to kidnap her. Overwhelmed, Wendy flees to her one constant in life, her brother Matt.
Removed from the protection of her tribe, Wendy becomes easy pickings for the Vittra. But she soon discovers that there is more to the story than her queen mother has told her. And then there is Loki, her captor, the Vittra prince. He is nothing like she expects and Wendy finds herself drawn to him.
Will the Trylle be able to rescue Wendy from the hands of the Vittra? Will Wendy finally get to the bottom of this century long feud between the two tribes?
The magical world of the Trylle has captivated me. I love the powers, abilities, and even the messed up politics of this world that Hocking has created. The characters are believable, strong but with just the right amount of teenage vulnerability.
While I enjoyed this installment, I must admit to a little disappointment. Book one set up so much thrilling passion and conflict between Finn and Wendy, and I expected Hocking to take the stakes up in their forbidden relationship. Book 2, however, doesn't seem to move their conflict any further. Hocking focuses on the introduction and build up of a connection between Loki and Wendy. While I do find Loki’s character charming and funny, the link between him and Wendy doesn't seem quite as believable or exciting. There were also certain plot points that seemed out of place or out of character. The whole escape scene seems unlikely in the face of the Vittra’s efforts to kidnap Wendy.
Yet…I still admit to being curious and wanting to read more. What is the cause of this feud? What will happen to the queen? Will Wendy harness her power? Will the love triangle resolve itself and result in a happy ending, or will the character’s sense of duty force them into loveless, passionless decisions? I guess there’s only one way to find out!
it was amazing iv been hooked on this seres I can't wait for 3 it was a little to short but I bet the next will be longer
"Another great read."
Great book. Amazing narrator. Could not put it down. Can't wait for the next book.
This book series is not on my favorite list but is still an acceptable way to kill some quiet time. Wendy is a bit of a whiner if you ask me. Her response to just about everything is an exasperated "WHAT?" She understands nothing and doesn't even try to think for herself yet somehow she's revered as super powerful soon the be leader? I can't make the connection but maybe you will!
"The last book was an A+...this book is an A++!"
Everything! I especially loved watching Wendy's character grow and mature, along with her relationship with her mother and Queen of the Trylle, Elora.
It is difficult to compare this to other books, because it is the only book I have come across that features trolls. Not only that, but it offers a new and fresh take on this mythological creature...very different than those hideous trolls of lore that hide under bridges. If I absolutely must compare it to something though, I'd say maybe the Iron Fey series, only because the protagonist in that series is on a similar journey as Wendy. They both discover they are a mythological creature AND royalty. Both are coming of age stories where the protagonists are learning how to grow and mature into the leadership role that is their birthright.
That's easy! Loki! What's not to love? My second favorite character would definitely be Tove. I love both their relationships with Wendy. You can really feel the chemistry between Loki and Wendy. I love Wendy's friendship with Tove and enjoy all their scenes together.
Witnessing Loki's vulnerability when he does such a selfless act to help Wendy. I won't go into detail about that scene, since it would spoil the story for those that haven't read the book yet. I also loved the moment when Wendy put Aurora in her place. So satisfying!
I absolutely loved the first book and I thought this book was even better! I really enjoyed watching Wendy's character slowly mature into the aging Queen she will be. I can't find any flaws about this book and I thought Therese Plummer's performance was amazing and spot on! An A++!
These tree books are a must read. They are a great love story yet so much more. I will listen again to these books.
I love the adventure and the real estate to the caritors.
She brings so much to the books. She brings go the caritors to lfe.
The books should be put to film for sure.
