At 17, Layla Weston is already starting over. Having lost both her parents and grandparents, and with nowhere else to go, Layla is moving from Florida to a small town in North Carolina to live with the only family she has left: her estranged uncle and aunt. The last five years of Layla's life were spent appeasing her lessthan-loving grandmother, followed by being her grandfather's caretaker. Growing old before her time, Layla lost her identity. Now she must learn how to allow herself to be the one who is cared for and loved. Life takes an unexpected turn when Layla meets Will Meyer. His breathtaking good looks are enough to catch her eye, but his sincerity and passion are everything she needs to find the strength and confidence she lost - and lead her into love. When tragedy once again strikes Layla's life, her hope is all but completely crushed. Through it all, Layla learns what it means to truly love and be loved.

Extremely impressed with the story and the character build up. I was in knots when Will and Layla were having relationship issues and Will couldn't communicate properly without putting Layla in danger.
"very good series"
no I usually only read books once and move on to another
I loved all 3 books in this series. I enjoy reading but really like listening when I am able to walk and enjoy exercising. I love the fact I can read multiple books with the same characters and continue the journey with them.
Good writing style, but I didnt fall in love with the characters or plot like I had anticipated. The romance seemed too rushed and her integration to the clique too seamless. The self loathing of her character was portrayed well, but the author's attempt to make the heroine appear strong and courageous was weak. I found myself often bored, and will not be reading the next novel.
"I liked the book"
But I felt it a little drawn out and repetitious. Bot I liked the story line.
"loved it !"
So good I had to get the rest of the trilogy. The plot was had a nice spin, so although I thought I knew the ending, I really didn't.
"Great book that does not disappoint"
Oh my-this book started well-kept going-and now-ready for book 2! So my best review will be at the end of trilogy to see if the storyline can continue.
Wanted to buy the next book right away.. I personally thought there was a lot of over analysing but I guess that goes with teenage angst.
"Good story line, but very repetitious"
This book is for the younger reader. It was very repetitious. I would rank it in the bottom half of audiobooks I've listend to so far.
Didn't really feel that there was an ending. It was almost like the chapter ended and if you wanted an ending, you had to read the next book.
Layla calling her guardians aunt & uncle
Young love conquers all
Don't do it!
"absolutely a great read"
loved the characters. held my attention completely. couldn't wait to keep going.
"It Is What It Is"
I chose this book because of the high reviews on several other book review sites. I am going to give the audible review that would have made a difference in my purchase. Notice this is currently a trilogy that audible only has one segment of. This is not because it has not been written yet. Secondly, the book was actually released, in the written version, a year and a half prior to the audio version.
If you are a fan of Nicholas Sparks - you will be a fan of this book.
A love story trilogy that begins with Layla at 17 years old. The previous five years of her life have been an emotional roller coaster and she is off on a promising different life in a new town with a distant aunt and uncle,
The plot is interesting and well thought out. What this book lacked, for me, was in the shallowness of the main characters and the female lead's repetitive thoughts. The teenage characters were way more mature and civil than I think are possible.
