Summary

A flash of lightning illuminates a horrific sight. What his school claims was a tragic accident James Bond suspects was murder. In search of the truth - and revenge - Bond risks his life to learn of a new secret weapon that could change the course of history.

The trail leads across Europe to a ruthless warmonger who stands ready to unleash hell upon the world. To survive, James must brave traps, trials and terrifying experiments - and triumph over his most powerful opponent yet.

Critic reviews

"Action-packed, with references to Fleming's Bond that will surprise and delight the most avid Bond fan." ( Mail on Sunday), on Young Bond: Shoot to Kill)
"[Cole] is a master of action, and the scenes on the sinister airship as it makes its way over the Atlantic are particularly tense." ( The Financial Times, on Young Bond: Shoot to Kill)

Masterful

Another hit out the park by Steve Cole. Despite the series reaching book eight the sheer thrill and utter adrenaline fuelled action is nostalgic of the series’ beginning when young bond first took off. Absolutely love the feature of James’ wild friend Perrie Manderville, of whom clearly spiced up the story and added an extra flair of humour to bond’s contrasting seriousness. The villains were as fearsome and as cunning as ever. Could never predict the criss crossing plot. An absolute masterpiece.

A good entry in a very good series!

'Young Bond' once again does not disappoint although the story does seem a tad far-fetched at times. We enjoyed it, especially Nathaniel Parker's excellent narration which enables the listener to tell who is speaking at all times.

More of the same

Brilliant narrator. Getting a bit tired of the same format. Baddies, scrapes, cars, unsurvivable situations, struggle, fight, hero - with friend and various girls - survives and saves the day. Again.

Good diversion between grown up stuff

I have liked all of the young bond books and clocking in at half the running time of my usual maberry or king books they are excellent short, sweet treats. This one didn't disappoint with fast paced plot and another unique plot line further developing the young bond character
