We have now listened to the full Peculiar trilogy and this was a satisfying conclusion, if perhaps a little convenient!
Absolutely amazing third part. I didn't want to stop listening when it was time for work or time for bed. I was constantly engrossed and will definitely listen to all three stories again.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to all three books. A grand and peculiar story, with an ending that allows for the imagination to ponder what next.
Narrator is far better than the first book in this series. Still the odd mispronunciation but nothing major. It was a lot easier to follow the story with consistent accents and voices.
Reading amuses me.
Hard to believe the story can be over. Ranson is an incredible writer and his stories bring such joy to all ages, including myself at 25 and my 10 year old neighbour.
A well planned gripping story, excellent characters and a wonderful ending.
"This version doesn't have the Vintage photos"
This review is not for the book but for the Audible version. The audible version for previous books in the series came with reference guide containing the photos in the book. This third book is supposed to have over 50 Vintage photos.
I pre-ordered this audible version hoping I would be able to download the photos once it is released. Unfortunately, there is no download option. I contacted customer service and they informed that it doesn't come with this book. The author writes the story using the photos as his inspiration. That is one of the reasons that I liked this series. Without the photos, it is incomplete. If anybody is planning to buy the audible version, be warned and know what you are getting.
"Good story that struggled to end"
great ending to the series overall! some fun plot twists. I love the characters all the more now.
the reader showed quite an impressive array of voices. superb!
there were times when the story felt slow or dragging a bit unlike the prior books.
without knowing how many pages were left to read thanks to the audio format, the end seemed right around the corner many times. it got tedious to follow yet another set of mini adventures after a while, though the story was still entertaining. after so many "almost" endings it seemed to wander to a finish rather than climax. I bet if I'd had a physical book in hand it would've been less of an issue.
it felt like a mediocre add-on how the "age forward" problem was explained away at the end. it could have had some foreshadowing or better integration somehow.
overall a good 4 star story but not the 5 stars of the prior books.
"A bit too long"
I found myself losing focus often during the first half. Scenes that could've been wrapped up quickly seemed to be drawn out unnecessarily. Overall, the book was a good ending to the series. I even shed a tear at the end.
The author really wraps up what he set out to do. All the setup in book one in my opinion gets a satisfactory ending that stays true to the themes.
"Very engaging trilogy!"
...even this "final" book was satisfactory! I was engaged until the end and didn't feel like the final a forced conclusion.
Reading all three is a must since the books don't necessarily stand on their own. BUT all three are a GREAT "listen," since I "read" these via Audible.
The reader does a very good job keeping characters in "character".
this was one of may favorite books. I did not expected a final as the one it had. I recommend it.
"A Good Trilogy!"
This was a good third book. I enjoyed the story. Kirby Heyborne did a really good job, but I think I still might have preferred the original reader. Thankfully, both were good with the voices. I normally write a review stating how much I dislike voices, but these two readers did quite well. I just might look for books narrated by both. I don't want to give away anything about the ending, but I was just ever so slightly disappointed. Disappointed might be too strong of a word. I think I just wanted something a little more. But, as I often do with a good book, I just continue the story on in my mind until I reach a satisfactory ending for myself. Oh how I wish I was as half as capable as Mr. Riggs of writing such a creative story. I would definitely recommend giving this a listen.
The book really didn't get started until half way through. It was not as good as the previous two. Sometimes the characters were bland and shouldn't have been. I never bought into the leading characters blossoming love story. There were some characters that were introduced that the author never really wrapped up their storyline. They could have been utilized better in my opinion. I think I had higher hopes. I expected more because the packaging was so intriguing.
I loved this final book in the series. I was so engrossed in the story it was hard to turn it off to go to sleep! Even though I lost sleep, this book was worth every single second!!!!
"LOVE the story! But..no pictures."
I thought he did a great job of expressing the relationship between Jacob and Emma!
ALL THE REACTIONS!!
I absolutely loved the series! And I loved the way was told! But I agree with the earlier comment.. without the pictures I feel like I only got half the story...
