Years before, a gateway opened between their world and ours. Sending one young woman through may be the key to survival for the kingdom of Fourline.
Strapped for cash, college student Natalie Barns agrees to take a job at a costume shop. Sure, Estos - her classmate who works in the shop - is a little odd, but Nat needs the money for her tuition.
Then she stumbles through the mysterious door behind the shop - and her entire universe transforms.
Discovering there's far more to Estos than she ever imagined, Nat gets swept up in an adventure to save his homeland, an incredible world filled with decaying magic, deadly creatures, and a noble resistance of exiled warriors battling dark forces. As she struggles with her role in an epic conflict and wrestles with her growing affection for a young rebel, Soris, Nat quickly learns that nothing may go as planned...and her biggest challenge may be surviving long enough to make it home.

This is a good book. It hooks you in from the first and takes you along until the end. I found myself not wanting to stop the story. It is clean (no language and nothing steamy). I've heard others write about "world building" but never really realized what that fully meant until this book. If you like adventure books this is for you.
"Definitely worth your time"
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me enthralled the entire read. It started a bit oddly and I had to go back and delisted to it but the rest of it was fantastic. Headed off to listen to the next one.
"I'm guessing I'm not the target audience"
narrator was great, good shift in character voices but hard to listen at fast speeds
Not sure if the story or the performer was worse. The characters were weakly described, the story went nowhere and the performer was so amateurish that I found my mind wandering constantly. It took me several attempts to listen to the book and I just should have bailed after the first attempt. A total let down. The various voices of the performer were annoying.
"No idea what to expect"
I had no idea what to expect when I played this audiobook. What a fun surprise! The story is well woven and leads your imagination to play. The characters are well developed and ended up having way more back story than I expected. Instead of being hard to get through I looked forward to listening to it. I'm excited to listen to the next one in the series to see how the story continues to play out.
"Simply written young adult/teen book"
Many of the characters were lack luster and the majority of the story was pretty boring. It became more interesting towards the end.
Very good story. I am very happy I purchased the Audio book. This was a great and exciting book made better and more interesting with the characters brought to life by the reading program. I loved every minute. D. Page
"all voices were alike"
the story was ok i found myself not paying attention from time to time because it was boring in some chaptera, the male voices sounded like a female trying to hard
I don't remembering ordering a book in this genre but it was pleasant maybe better.
