But Academy students aren't there to take it easy. The high school is overcrowded and rife with violence. When fights begin, Sang will uncover the true reason the boys traded in their private school life for a public one. This year, Sang will no longer be invisible. This year, Sang is a target. The principal and vice principal are hot to take Sang down, and her own mother is determined to entrap Sang forever in her belief that the safest place to be is in the shadows. "Terrible narration again."
I've read the entire series thus far. And was excited when the first book made it audible. However the story was less enjoyable. Due to Chris Ensweiler's terrible narration of the boys. But the story was still enjoyable nonetheless.
The same is true for this book once again Chris Ensweiler just murdered the narration. It's so Bad I would have called for a refund had I not paid 2.99 for the book and even at the price it was a struggle to finish.
I love these books so if we could get more turned into audio that would be wonderful. Actually anything written by C. L. Stone turned into audio would be appreciated.
I'm really impressed with much about these books, but would wish the heavy use of the F* word could be curbed. it is extreem enough to detract from the flow of the rest of the story. great narrator !
Another way to enjoy the book when you can't sit down and read. ; )
"These stories are addictive!"
Young and old will be attracted to the main story of an isolated and abused teen girl creating strong friendships with several attractive teen guys. (I know I am!) The guys, who have similar histories of their own, take her into their group. The deal with non typical high school situations that at times are intense. The principal and his VP with take an abnormal interest in the young girl, creating more tention to the story.
For the mom's:
These books start out innocent enough but, eventually the girl is thrown into situations that may not be suitable for a younger audience. I can't get into more detail without spoiling the story.
As a mother myself, I highly recommend a parent read the stories first, unless you think your child is mature enough to understand some of the situations and underlying theme of the story. Otherwise, I would recommend this series to 17+.
"The perfect audio for the perfect book"
It was perfect. I loved the book and audio book. I read the book first and was impatient to listen to it and was not disappointed.
"Unhealthy heroine and abusive protagonists"
I would not recommend this book for young women sad it teaches them to give up total control of their lives to pushy men.
The way the protagonist gives up all her personal will power and autonomy to these seven plushy men, and the author just excuses these boys behavior by saying more or less, "it's just how they are" is, frankly, abusive.
The boys don't allow her to read notes passed to her in class and take them from her without even telling her. They expect her to be totally dependant then and answer no personal questions about themselves while demand divulge intimate secrets to reach of them they gossip about her. They lift get clothes and demand she explain hey bruises without thinking about her personal space. This book romanticised sexualized harassment and stalking. They watch her through her windows. They tell her how to wear her hair and yell at her if she for not agree. They follow her to the bathroom and don't let her make ANY other friends. The author can pretend this is chivalry all they want. This book is disturbing. It is the story of a girl who has been abused and controlled all her life and end up with friends who are abusive and controlling. They literally isolate her and tell her what is good for her.
