I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that's not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can't seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted; and then she was a wolf - all snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That's about the time I went into shock. And that was the moment he showed up.
Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One: werewolves do exist. And two: I was born to kill them.
Fans of paranormal, hunters, shifters, and werewolves will love the Dirty Blood series!

YES! I would definitely listen to it again and again. Firstly, I just love this series and being to listen to it is like dreams come true!
Wes. Everything that is connected to him is memorable.
I think the first kiss. I like how gentle he was and actually paid attention to what Tara is feeling.
Yes, but if I say anything more I would be spoiling the book :D
Just listen to the book! it was simply AMAZING!
I first read Dirty Blood when it came out and immediately fell in love with it, well this time it was no different. I fell in love with it all over again.
We are thrown into the action pretty much straight away. Tara is on a date with her boyfriend George. He turns up late, as usual, and Tara says, enough is enough, and breaks up with him. She leaves by herself and ends up traveling through an alley. One second Tara is walking, the next she is facing down the unbelievable. A girl starts charging at her but then it's a wolf. Tara is stunned but her body reacts to the danger. She ends up picking up a pipe and killing the girl/wolf. Tara is in shock when a boy turns up. Who is he? What is going on? From that second on Tara's life changes forever!
I loved Tara. She is spunky, brave and kick ass but is still a normal girl. Her life is like any other teenagers until the moment the wolf attacks. She learns what she is and I loved that she struggled at first with everything. It took her time to believe and jump on board. Her whole attitude and demeanor is relateable and she was easy to connect to.
Then we have Wes. *Sigh* Wes!!! Tara has no idea what to make of him at the start because he is so standoffish, add in the fact that she is a Hunter and he is a Werewolf and immediately you have a forbidden romance. I loved Wes. He is stubborn, strong, brave and kind. He is definitely the strong silent type.
I loved the romance in Dirty Blood. It takes time for Wes and Tara to hit it off, despite the pull Tara feels toward him. There's no insta love here and despite George being in the picture at the start, there's no love triangle, which is always a plus!!
Dirty Blood is an action packed, edge of your seat read. Right from the start it pulls you in and won't let go, even after you have read the last page. Heather Hildenbrand weaves a fantastic story that will leave you breathless and turning the pages as quickly as you can to see what happens. Everything about this book is amazing, from the breathtaking plot to the phenomenal writing, Dirty Blood is a must read.
This is one series that everyone should check out. Dirty Blood is a phenomenal first book and believe me when I say that every book is just as good. This is one of my all time favourite series and I can't recommend them highly enough. Go get this book NOW, you wont be sorry!!
Kelly Pruner did a great job with the narration. She performed Tara perfectly!! She had her sass and kick ass attitude down to a t and even brought Wes alive. She didn't try too hard to do a male voice and I appreciated that because often time it can come across forced. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance and look forward to more by her.
"Very good read"
Great plot. Story ended well, but leaves you guessing about the future. Probably will read the next one. Only problem was wolves speaking. Anyone with half a brain knows that would be physically impossible for them to talk and the sound be the same as a human. Even fantasy can't make that happen. Should've had them mind speak! There's some fantasy!
"great book and narration. too bad book 2 is so terrible"
I really liked this book a lot. Good YA urban fantasy with actual creepy/bloody/killing bad guys. It's just upsetting that the second book reads like middle school drama. I'm on chapter 28 and still no fights, saving good guys, killing bad guys. It's only been about not being the new kid and boyfriend drama. Bleh.
"Amazing on audio"
Having read this book before, I absolutely loved it on audio. Story was just as strong as it was to read. Loved it!
"The alternative to a vampy story. Me likey!"
What I appreciated most about this story was that it wasn't so much about mates and were shifting. It dealt with a heroine of course who knew nothing about who she was or where she came from. She later findds out a slew of information and is left with how to cope and fight to survive. There were a few giant AHA moments, and for me that's big. Two thirds into the story I was completely in shock. I mean jaw dropped, mouth opened shock lol.
Kelly did a good job with the characters. In the beginning I thought her voice was too bubbly and didn't match the story. However, I had to remind myself the story is YA and she is a 17 year old, so that helped me rethink her delivery.
This is a book appropriate for all YA lovers alike and those who enjoy shifters, and paranormal creatures. Looking forward to Cold Blood!
"Love the story"
I have read and listened to both versions of Dirty Blood. While I do not prefer to listen to the book, I did enjoy listening to Dirty Blood. I got a ton of stuff done while I was listening to Dirty Blood.
I liked the suspense that was throughout the entire book. There wasn't anytime that I was completely relaxed, there was so much that was happening in the book that I was constantly needing the reader to hurry up so I could find out what was going to happen
I like the scenes when Wes was with her. Tara became more relaxed when he was around. That isn't to say that the whole time he was with her was she relaxed, she just seemed to be more relaxed when he was with her.
No, I can't say that I was moved at all in the book, and I don't think that this is that kind of book.
I received this in exchange for my honest opinions.
"Good Plot but..."
The narrator was great but the story was slow in places and extremely juvenile in others. Realizing it is about a senior in high school it still seemed to be like junior high in many places. With that being said, when the action started it was a fun listen. You just have to suffer through all the juvenile BS to get to the action.
