    "audio book"

The story mirrored Mortal Instruments quite a lot, same type of set up with characters etc. , but because it's been so long since I read them it was ok. The narrator was good to listen to.

"Its what I've come to expect, a great read/ listen"

This is not the first series of books from the author that I have read, listened to. Both the storyline and the telling of it was excellent. I recommend the Infernal devices as a must.

    "Awful Narrator"

Absolutely dreadful. The narrators voice is whiny and irritating, and her accents are awful. Couldn't bear listening to more than the first chapter. Will never buy another title narrated by this person.

"Don't let the narration get you down"

Although an accomplished, award winning actress, Jennifer Ehle's narration is grating and intrusive. Her rendition of the two main characters is somewhat exaggerated, giving the whole piece a slightly comic gothic lean that undermines the scale of the story, and is unlikely to be what the author intended. In particular, the pitch of the narration and several of the characters has a "closed throated" grainy edge that is often distracting.

However this book is the foundation of a very satisfying trilogy, peopled with lively, well-drawn characters in a compelling fantasy world.

The narration in the next book is better and the final book in the series is narrated with masterly subtlety by Daniel Sharman. Stick with it - the ending is worth the somewhat irritating start.

"Clockwork Angels: The Infernal Devices, Book 1"

Enjoyable escapism, I read the mortal instruments books and was worried these would be a bit "same-y" but so far the change of time period adds quite a bit of extra interest. I do think some of the characters seem a bit recycled though.

The performance was OK, some of the accents were a bit irritating and inconsistent however.

    "I love this book "

I love everything about this book-even better than the Mortal Instruments especially as all of the shadowhunters are so interesting, individual and likeable. Will and Jem are both excellent leading males that girls will find themselves torn between (just like Tessa).

Tessa is a likable character who is easy to relate to even though this is set over a hundred years ago.

The London setting linked with the extracts of Victorian literature at the start of each chapter help to immerse you into the world of the book.
