Summary

Written and read by Jessica Watson, this is the story of a remarkable girl who followed her dream and conquered the world.

There is something different about adventurers, about the way their minds work. They look at the world as a place of challenges, and though they know what fear is, they refuse to be hindered by it.

True Spirit is Jessica's story, and in it she will detail her preparation, her journey and her battle with sleep deprivation, gale-force winds, mountainous seas, natural hazards like whales and icebergs and holding firm against the solitude that most of us can only imagine dealing with, alone on a vast sea with no land to be seen and no help close at hand.

The name Jessica Watson will soon be part of sailing history. She will join Jesse Martin and Kay Cottee as someone all Australians can be inspired by. Jessica Watson is a dreamer who dares to do.

Amazing story by an amazing person

As a yacht skipper myself, this is a wonderful account / log of Jessica and her voyage. An inspiration to say the least!

Incredible young person

Jessica, her family and support team are richly deserving of all the accolades following her epic adventure solo non stop unassisted around the world.
This book in Jessica’s words tells of her dreams, the preparation and determination to succeed. A very talented and competent young sailor, well done Jessica, a must read.

Painfull

Very hard to get thtough this. Constant rhetoric of poor me and how hard i had it. I was hoping to inspire my son but didnt want to listen to the feminist contradicting dribble. Should have used an author ruined an epic tale.

An Epic True story by a sincere genuine Author

A magnificent true story whether you love sailing as I do or not. This book moved me after I watched the Netflix version twice. I listened to Jessica’s Audible version and have bought a copy. Thank you Jessica for the young people you teach to believe in our dreams. I think you’ll be my age before you realise just how much your inspiration means to your readers. It isn’t just what you have done or been through now it is who you are as a person. Your family and your team and your sincere recognition of them all have something to teach us all. I needed this book and wish I could write one for you now until you can dream again of living “ happily ever after” once more. Thank you. A teacher, a daughter and retired sailor!

From a long lost dream of mine to witnessing other doing it !

I so so love hearing Jessica’s story narrated in her own words and with such courage. I felt like i was once again pushed to achieve my own, even at 55 ! I have always loved young people and we can applaud their ambitions. I think Jessica has taken on the world with equal humility and bravery. I wonderful read indeed.

Great adventure told with passion

Would you listen to True Spirit again? Why?

There as so many sections that make you grin, nod your head and think I should take a lesson from that.

What did you like best about this story?

The simplicity with which Jessica told her story, raw and gutsy.
