Summary

For the very first time, and straight from the horse's mouth, a top manager's intriguing insights into the daily trials and tribulations, the joyous peaks and soul-destroying troughs of life as a football 'gaffer'. Ever wondered how a transfer deal is done? What a manager says during his pre-match team-talk? What he screams from the technical area? What goes on in training sessions, and on those long away trips? How a manager carefully builds a team, and what he does when the planning is disrupted by injuries? How he lifts a team after a crushing defeat, and keeps their feet on the ground after a resounding victory? How the man in charge handles the ever-present danger of getting sacked in the ultimate results business?

In short, how one of today's top professional footballer managers somehow copes with the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, with having to live, breathe and sleep football 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? Then listen to the The Gaffer.

Class 👍🏼⚽️

Personally I wasn’t a fan of Neil before listening to his book! Comes aggressive from the side line, however he’s just ultra competitive and loves to win!

This book changed my mind! He’s a top manager and bloke! Good values and good tips in management and the football world! All the best Neil ⚽️

An eye opening listen

I absolutely loved this. Neil's narration was fantastic and what a transformation of opinion I have had, I'm now a fully paid up member of the Neil Warnock fan club. what a down to earth man, possibly the past of the old school. highly recommend this to anyone remotely interested in football.

Only One Neil Warnock!

I'm not normally into reading, find it difficult to keep my attention engaged in any book. But being able to listen to someone, especially Neil himself, made the experience that more enjoyable. it felt like I was sat in the room with Neil and he was talking to me. His understanding and experience of the game is amazing and his insight into the world of coaching is fascinating.

Great book. Really shows you more than what the news told you at certain times in his career!

superb football book

Can imagine what people might think of this book, as there are some dogmas that seem to unfortunately follow Warnock.

However I thoroughly recommend it for any fan of English football.

interesting, honest and in depth review of Neil's Time ate Leeds and QPR aswell as longer career

An absorbing read

I wasn’t to keen on Neil Warnock but thought this book would be a good insight into football management and it was. I even quite liked the guy by the end of the book.
Was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more about his early days in management Non league involvement
but never the less throughly enjoyed the this book and wizzed through it in no time.
