Editor reviews

Brandon Sanderson’s brilliant second instalment in the epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive, Words of Radiance, rivals anything dished up by other masters of the genre. In this thrilling audiobook, various factions vie for control of the magical Shard artefacts whose mysterious power is in great demand. As war looms on the horizon, aristocratic dynasties struggle for power. Available from Audible, Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive, Book 2 is narrated by the team of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer and is perfect for fans of Game of Thrones.

Summary

Book two of the Stormlight Archive.

From the best-selling author who completed Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series comes an original new creation that matches anything else in modern fantasy for epic scope, thrilling imagination, superb characters and sheer addictiveness. Return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms, a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control the shard blades and shard plates, ancient artifacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.

As the world tips into a war for control of the mythical artifacts of power made from Shard, characters are swept up into new dangers which will threaten their integrity and their lives. Huge ideas-filled, world-spanning fantasy from a master of the genre.

Great story but very slowly moving.

The characters are well crafted and plot is deep and has many surprising twists.
Some times it felt that plot moves very slowly as if going in circles. However moments of writer brilliance make up for most of it. I feel I need take a brake before trying next book.

Was sceptical when I started the first book but it won me over as the story progressed. Book two was even better and could not stop listening to it! Now onto book three!

Even better than the previous book

Even better than the previous book. Now that you know the characters it's easy to get lost in the politics, action and suspense. The characters are well define and you feel connected to their stories. Loved this book!

Another brilliant book from Brandon which keeps you engaged from start to finish, on top of this it has been the book that made me realise there is more going on within all of sandersons books and how they are linked to the mistborn series etc def worth a listen and defs worth reading into the Cosmere! So Addictive

I have listened to and read the two first books a few times, over the last few years. Brandon is a fantastic author, consistent quality. By far my favourite series and narrators are fantastic, especially Michael.
Great value for money, I recommend this series and author.

This 2nd installment is better than the first

I struggled to finish the first Stormlight Archive book, but this had me enthralled. The world and characters really come alive in this book, and I caught myself captured by the story even when I wasn't reading. It still seems like the story could be tighter. It's really, really long. And it moves at it's own frustratingly slow pace at times. Still enjoyed this and will be moving on to the next book.
