After the shocking revelations of the previous book, Bitter Bite, the world of Ashland's become even more sinister, and Gin Blanco (aka Ashland's most fearsome assassin, the Spider) no longer knows whom - or what - she can count on. Only one thing is for certain: Danger and new enemies await Gin in Unraveled, book 15 in the New York Times best-selling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series that RT Book Reviews calls "unbeatable entertainment!"
What could go wrong when you're trying to unravel a decades-old conspiracy?
As the current queen of the Ashland underworld, you would think that I, Gin Blanco, would know all about some secret society controlling things from behind the scenes. I might be the Spider, the city's most fearsome assassin, but all my Ice and Stone elemental magic hasn't done me a lick of good in learning more about the Circle. Despite my continued investigations, the trail's gone as cold as the coming winter.
So when Finnegan Lane, my foster brother, gets word of a surprising inheritance, we figure, why not skip town for someplace less dangerous for a few days? That place: Bullet Pointe, a fancy hotel resort complex plus Old West theme park that Finn now owns lock, stock, and barrel. At first all the struttin' cowboys and sassy saloon girls are just hokey fun. But add in some shady coincidences and Circle assassins lurking all around, and vacationing becomes wilder - and deadlier - than any of us expected.
Good thing this assassin brought plenty of knives to the gunfight....

Another fantastic story by Jennifer Estep. Brought to life by Lauren Fortgang. I love Gin, the way she thinks and acts. Her Foster brother Finn is still trying to deal with happened in the last spider assassin book. We get some more information on the circle, but I believe we still have a lot more to learn. Waiting for the next instalment.
I used to absolutely LOVE the Elemental Assassin books - with Jennifer Estep replacing JK Rowling as my favourite author...
However, it appears that Ms Estep has run out of grand ideas for poor Gin Blanco, and this latest book features merely a Wild West weekend of rather tedious violence.
Perhaps it is time for Gin to retire quietly and raise little assassins with her lover Owen. I certainly won't be buying any more of these books.
I think we are getting to the stage where repetition is becoming a problem. There are only so many ways to kill a giant and the secondary assassin really is not that scary.
May be it is getting near to the time that Gin retires.
That saying just about enjoyable though found the book very slow to get going and I think the start only was only really padding.
The worst of the series only rescued by a good performance by Lauren Fortgang
"Great Story Line"
To all of us Spider fans this book does not disappoint. Lauren Fortgang does an excellent job of voice differentiating and story telling.
Jennifer Estep once again expands the story breathing even more lfe into the storyline. Personally I started this series on kindle and also have the complete set in Audible, it is that good. In fact if you are starting this series go back to book #1 Spiders Bite. the book does stand by itself, but I would recommend to start at the beginning.
The story moved forward and keeps me wanting more. Perfect story with an exceptional narrator.
"Blanco Gang Rides Again!!!"
Listened for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating : 4.50
Story Rating : 4.50
Character Rating : 4.50
Narration Rating : 5.00 (not part of the overall rating)
#InstaReview: OMG waiting for the audiobook was so the right choice. Lauren narrating The Blanco Gang in the Wild Wild West was a freaking fun ride. This series continues to be a great combination of action, humor, and heart. Just gosh darn good time!

"Once again sucked in"
There is something about this writer's characters and storylines that always suck me in and linger. I cannot imagine a world without more Gin Blanco stories.
With one word I know who the character is because the near raider is so connected to the storyline that you believe that you're hearing the true stories of Gin and crew.
"Still exciting and so much fun!"
Fifteen books in and the story is still as exciting and so much fun that it is one of my favorite series. Jennifer Estep, keeps delivering the perfect blend of kickass elemental assassin, meets down home country girl and I love it!
Unraveled is the second book in the series I have listened to on Audiobook. I am tempted to go back and start again from the beginning, re-listen to all of them. I loved Lauren Fortgang’s narration that much, she has captured Gin perfectly and breathed life into her....Sara
"her powers keep getting weaker each book"
i just dont know if i can keep listening.... the over all story is great but the fact her powers and abilities just dont match up with past books and the epic battles she has had in the past and each person she fights she keeps getting weaker with her powers and never trains to better herself.
"Can never go wrong with this series"
Once again Gin is up to the challenge. Different setting but same dastardly bad guys. This book sets up for a whole new series of books in this adventure.
"Oh Gin. It's not me; it's you."
Oh Gin. I need Gin after this one. How is this book rated above a 4? Are people rating without reading? I started this series, broke up with this series, and now I'm contemplating the real end of our relationship. Gin is supposed to be the Queen of the Underwold. Best Assassin with the power of two elements. But it's a lie! She always gets beat up, trapped, kidnapped, tricked, and suckered. She is lucky she isn't dead. LUCKY! This series should be called THE LUCKY SPIDER. I mean REALLY people... here are my issues:
1. False Title. You can't be the Assassin Queen and barely get away every book.
2. The convient flashbacks. It's amazing how she has a dream that tells her everything she needs to know. But she hasn't remembered any of this stuff before.
3. Random love scenes. We don't get ant snuggles or affection between Gin and Owen, but randomly throw some sex and it will make up for that.
4. Predictable ending. I could have told you exactly what would happen after reading chapter 2. No suspense whatsoever.
5. Barbecue. Why is it every book they are fighting near a famous barbecue joint. These people don't eat fried chicken or fish?
For me, this is no longer a stop-everything-have-to-preorder-it type of series. This is now a read-this
Audible Books Listener
Great Story. Great Narration. Kept the storyline going for another book. Can't wait for the next book.
"I love all the books I've listened to so far."
Someday yes. I might. It's not my style to go back to read or listen but I probably would read any of the series again in the distant future.
I think it's just a little extreme but again, that's why I find it so interesting.
