Summary
Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss.
This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and a must for all fans of HBO's Game of Thrones. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic...and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord.
Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans.
Engaging and gripping, The Wise Man’s Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

A big old magical romp which intersects with an intellectual jizz fest. This is a cooly arrogant but deftly executed meta story. And by golly its a long'n

Slightly drawn out yet very enjoyable
As a book following on from In The Name Of The Wind this had a lot to live up to. For the most part it fulfilled that by giving great depth into the characters however the overall plot does not seem to move as far as I would've hoped from this book.

Excellent Follow on Book, However slow at times.
2nd book of a possible 3, great characters and excellent story, however it is slow at times. The author takes about an hour of reading/listening to tell something which could be told in about 10 minutes. There is also some key plot holes, including areas which covered then, you hear nothing more. That said, loved the book, loved the story and some of the twists.

The second book doesn't disappoint, love the depth of the story as you loose track of time.

As good as the first book
I listened to this audio book with the same excitement which had held my ear through the entirety of the first book. Narrated superbly by Rupert Degas and written in superb detail by Patrick Rothfuss. I am looking forward with eagerness to the next instalment of this book instalment.

Very enjoyable
I acknowledge the points made by some other listeners. There are some longeurs which I feel should have been edited, for instance, too much romance, too much fantasy, too much effortless killing. As someone said, the coinage is incomprehensible.
However, the performance by Rupert Degas is extraordinary and really made the book for me - a glance at a printed version made me think the eccentric spelling of names would make it hard going. I didn't see if any asides were printed in italics, but I feel they might have been, which is a style I hate.
Rupert Degas is clearly a top performer and I am disappointed to find many of his audiobooks are the sort of military thriller that does not appeal to me. I may try one just to see if he can transform it for me.
It is a shame he does not read book 2.5. This quite often happens with series and I assume it is something to do with contractual arrangements.

Slow at times, but worth it!
A thoroughly engrossing read. Intriguing, engaging and with so much potential for future installments in the series.
