Summary
The impossible has happened. The Lord Ruler is dead. But so too is Kelsier, the man who masterminded the triumph. The awesome task of rebuilding the world has been left to his protege Vin - a onetime street urchin, now the most powerful Mistborn in the land. Worryingly for her, Vin has become the focus of a new religion, a development that leaves her intensely uneasy. More worryingly still, the mists have become unpredictable since the Lord Ruler died, and a strange vaprous entity is stalking Vin. As the siege of Luthadel intensifies, the ancient legend of the Well of Ascension offers the only glimmer of hope. But no-one knows where it is or what it can do....

A surprisingly easy listen.
For a massive high fantasy it was not a challenge to follow as an audiobook. I dont get the impression he spends long writing or re-reading a chapter. But has plenty of action and interest.
Don't bother refreshing the first book beforehand, I think literally about 10-20 percent of this book is retelling events of the first!

The characters, the plot, the magic system
The characters, the plot, the magic system, the well of ascension concept were all excellent!!! The theme of war is very prevalent in this book, but it’s done very well and it doesn’t drag on.

A solid sequel with a hint of predictability
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson is a well-executed and easily digestible sequel to the first book. While it may follow some expected story beats, it offers a few surprises along the way. The narration is enjoyable, though not mind-blowing. If I could, I'd rate it 3.5 stars, as it's a good read that leaves me eager for the next installment.

Great narrator
I'm in love with this narrator He made the book so enjoyable. I loved how he changed voices to fit different characters and it worked so well, I'm so glad he narrates more of Brandon Sanderson 's books now I can enjoy them just as much. The well of ascension was a really good read there are a bunch of shocking moments with a lot of politics and really good lore dumps.

Incredible continuation.
Much like the first book, this is a gripping story with well developed characters and a fascinating world. The first time I listened to it, it felt like a bit of a slower burn than the first, and yet I couldn't stop listening for a moment.
Another great reading by Michael Kramer. I love the emotion he carries and the clear distinction between characters. 10/10

Outstanding!
I much preferred this to book 1; a much more coherent storyline and, again, brilliant narration. An exciting and engaging listen with great twists and turns!

Massively heightens the first book
I enjoyed this one quite a lot more than I thought I would.
The first book was good fun, if a little simplistic and sometimes cheesy, but with an interesting and entirely different world as well as a good magic system, it held my interest. The characters were pretty good, though only one really stood out, but it was the twist at the end that brought it all together, but I still wasn’t overly impressed.
Then on to the next in the series, this one, and boy ow boy, it definitely makes the last a much better book. The story and scope increases here, though again feeling a little clunky at times. We all know Sanderson isn’t praised for his prose but I would appreciate a bit of a better effort where that is concerned.
The world grows more interesting and against thief is a great twist at the end, however one thing I would say is that in both Sanderson books in this series so far, it’s felt like, not a lot actually happens from start to end. I’ve struggle with this with some other books, where events are drawn out. Usually when that’s the case I expect exceptional characters, like in the first law trilogy, though in those books I’d argue far more happens, or I’d want really strong prose and action.
I am enjoying this, there’s no denying that, but I do think there are a fair few weaknesses, however I think the world it’s self is just so unique, that it really helps eliminate or nullify the weaker aspects of the book.
