Summary

First came the days of the plague. Then came the dreams. Dark dreams that warned of the coming of the dark man. The apostate of death, his worn-down boot heels tramping the night roads. The warlord of the charnel house and Prince of Evil. His time is at hand. His empire grows in the west and the Apocalypse looms.

For hundreds of thousands of fans who read The Stand in its original version and wanted more, this new edition is Stephen King's gift. And those who are listening to The Stand for the first time will discover a triumphant and eerily plausible work of the imagination that takes on the issues that will determine our survival.

sweat, blood, tears and thought provoking!

great story that kept me griped from the beginning, and it's a long listen. I'm not usually one for stories with religion as a prominent theme, but it was very tastefully done. I didn't feel preached at at all.

the narrator has done a wonderful job, his voice suits the story and the characters perfectly.

all in all a very entertaining listen!

Some Great Charecters

There are some inspiring charecters in the book, and the musings are intelligent and thought provoking. The implecations of germ warfare and society rebuilt.

I didn't enjoy the Christian overtones, they felt tired and too.. well, American. And the book is quite misogynistic, the women are all carbon copies of each other, whilst the men get actual personalities.

Saying that I did enjoy the book, it goes at a slow walking place through a long story. While it lacks a real climax it never bored me. Would reccomend.

Most exciting was first 10% and last 10%.
Would recommend the original version perhaps?
