The Reporter takes place between Week Three and Week Six of the 2684 GFL season, the season that encompasses The All-Pro.
The story involves Yolanda Davenport's search for the truth about Ju Tweedy's involvement with the murder of Grace McDermot, the incident that drove Ju to join the Ionath Krakens.

Nocturnal still my favorite.. but I love the commish an splash appearance of so many gfl players story was solid job well done another home run!!
"As always great book"
Read or listened to every Scott Sigler book. Loved all of them a must read author.
"An excellent addition to the GFL universe!"
Definitely near the top, but I would not recommend it to listeners who are not already familiar with the GFL universe. This novella flushes out the future Scott has built beautifully, but I doubt it would be very enjoyable for someone not familiar with all of the characters and intrigue of the world established in the core GFL novels.
It had a slightly different tone than other stories Scott has written in the GFL universe. I assume this is Mur Lafferty's influence on the novella, and it was refreshing to hear the GFL universe presented slightly differently than I was used to. It's still instantly recognizable, but subtly changed in an intangible way.
His performance of his own characters is always excellent. He brings them to life as no one else can.
If you're a fan of Scott's GFL novels, this is absolutely worth a credit.
"See the Siglerverse Through New Eyes"
Save Ju Tweedy!
Tarat the Smasher is a great source of comedic relief in the main series, and in The Reporter we finally get a deep look into his character, as well as this spin-off book's primary protagonist Yolanda Davenport.
Only Scott can do justice to many of the characters' voices, like Tarat the Smasher, and John Tweedy.
Yes, because his podcasts are spaced weekly--buying this audiobook was a way for me to blast past the cliffhangers!
What is amazing is the way that Scott Sigler has opened up his Sci-Fi world to other authors, and kept enough of his hand involved to guarantee consistency. While the main timeline of his GFL series moves ahead (both on and off the field) primarily through Quarterback Quentin Barnes’ eyes, this spin-off novel fleshes out a portion of the seven-book story arc through Reporter Yolanda Davenport’s perspective. Author Mu Lafferty did a seamless job and the audiobook is voiced by Scott, so it feels exactly right.
