Publisher's Summary

One night. That was all it took.

Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments.

Survivors call it The Purge.

Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. Among the survivors are two ex-Army Rangers, a businesswoman, and a third-year medical student. But surviving The Purge was one thing - staying alive is another matter entirely.

Hope exists in the countryside, in the form of a self-sustaining underground facility designed to withstand any calamity. But in order to reach its safety, the survivors must travel hundreds of treacherous miles, with the night - and the creatures that dwell within it - always at their backs.

The rules are simple: Stay out of the dark, load up on silver bullets, and whatever you do, stay alive.

The road to salvation has begun...

Nothing mind blowing but something to listen to. Mediocre story that could have been shortened instead of reiteration of the same thing. Made a mistake and have already bought the second book otherwise I wouldn't have bothered listening to any more.

great story if u like this kind of thing (witch I do), well paced with bursts of humour breaking up some gory bits. my only criticism is the voice for the arch villain is silly and detracts from an overall excellent oratory

    "Just Meh..."

I hate to say this but I didn't finish this book and I returned it. I stopped reading about 3/4 through during the 3rd unnecessary sex scene. This is a relatively entertaining novel of you like crude humor and detailed unrealistic sex thrown in just for filler.
This is a simile idea to the books written by Mark Tufo, except his books are hilarious, relevant, and entertaining. If you like the post apocalyptic zombie stuff you will be better off with Mark Tufo or Ted Dekker if you don't want zombies.

    "Dead, Not Stupid"
What disappointed you about The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival?

First, let's address the narrator. He read a book. It's as simple as that. He just opened the book and read it. A good narrator tells a story. You get lost in the story, the fluctuation of voices, the rise and drop of excitement, sorrow, etc. This guy....he just read a book. Listen to the sample and you'll know what I mean. Now try listening to that for over 14 hours. It was a true struggle.
Second, the book was such a disappointment. It started out with promise, but got too repetitive and cliche quickly. The men were male chauvinists and the women were just written into the book for the men to have someone to have sex with and make inappropriate comments about in private (and often right to their faces, which they just laughed off.) There was no character development and a lot of scenes never ended before a new one began.
Third.....there were a few phrases, like "dead, not stupid" that were repeated an annoying amount of times. No exaggeration, this particular phrase was probably mentioned 100 times. Combine that with the annoying narration, doesn't make for an enjoyable book.
I will not continue this series. I would like to have quit this book, but since I paid for it, I felt I had to finish......ya know, to get my money's worth.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I've already started listening to The 5th Wave.

Would you be willing to try another one of Adam Danoff’s performances?

    Noooooooooooo!

What character would you cut from The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival?

Hmm. There's so many to choose from.

"Narration was perfect! Story? Not so much."
What did you like best about The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival? What did you like least?

The plot was pretty good and kept me listening. The narration was fantastic! Adam Danoff did a great job capturing the characters and the feel of each scene.

But the characters had no depth, there was a lot of repetition, and all the females seemed to care about was catching a guy to take care of them. That last part frelling annoyed me.

What does Adam Danoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Adam brings additional depth to the story. The narration is a bit flat by itself, but Adam brought it to life.

If you could sum up The Purge of Babylon: A Novel of Survival in three words, what would they be?

Needs a new narrator but the story itself was pretty good. It had action, comedy, little dash of romance in it. The narrator though was horrible. This guy needs to take some acting classes and learn to lay off the caffine. He wouldn't change his voice at all for any of the characters and he talked about as fast as an auctioneer that double fisted a espresso. It was highly annoying so I'm returning it.

Yes, the main characters are likeable and the action moves along with several story lines.

Will. He is a good guy and a leader who would never give up . Kate too.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Hard to tell , I liked the C4 option.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some jokes were pretty funny, even in the worst of times.

    "Narration ruins the book"

The story was lacking, filled with cliches and repetitive sentence structure. What made finishing the book more difficult was the pace at which the narrator would read. It felt as if he was in a race to finish every sentence. I finished the book because I have a difficult time giving up on a story once I begin. However, I'll be much more cautious in the future when I purchase an audible book with this narrator. It was painful at times to listen to.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes ! I would recommend this audiobook to any and all. This is a excellent book from Mr. Sisavath. And now, being able to also listen to it also .. there really is no reason not to be listening to it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

With a audiobook this good, HOW can I choose just one favorite character ? I like all of the characters.. so sorry, I can't choose just a favorite. :)

What does Adam Danoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr Danoff brings his voice strong and clear to an already good book, so with both combinations.. The Purge of Babylon in audible form, is something you simple do not want to not get.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Did this make me laugh or cry ?.. NO.. it made me want MORE!

    Any additional comments?

I did give the audible performance 4 stars, due to the fact that for my preferences, Mr Danoff was reading the book a little fast for me. But his voice was clear and strong, and I especially loved his renditions of ' speaking what the characters was saying ' . So go ahead and get your copy of the audible and or book form, and you will also decide like me, that this is one fantastic audible book to have.
There is adult language in the audible, so I recommend it should be for young adults and older.

    "Ghouls"

OK, I didn't read the blurb, but books with vampires, zombies, and (now) ghouls, should have a specific warning on the cover, or even in the title. This book is so stupid I wouldn't even classify it as YA.

The banter between Danny and Will was great... so easy and natural. Lots of twists and unexpected turns. Narrator did a really good job with characters. Looking forward to the next installment of this series.
