Publisher's Summary

They survived a journey across the wasteland to bring hope back to their friends and loved ones. But when Eric, Elaine, and Neil reach the seaside town of Bandon, one of the last bastions of civilization to have survived the apocalyptic worldwide blight, they find it empty. Abandoned. Everyone they know and care for has left.

Or been taken.

Only the smallest clues as to their whereabouts are left behind. But it is enough to send the trio heading north, sailing from town to town along the Alaskan coast, finding allies and confronting enemies along the way. Until finally they find themselves forced to enter a crumbling subterranean colony to rescue those they'd come for.

But once they enter The Pit, the lives they've known and the people they've trusted will change - forever.

    "Bad Narrator."
    Any additional comments?

Mark Westfield is another bad narrator. He sounds like a deeper voiced William Shatner. Just minus a personality. Mark Westfield sounds like the guy from the monotone guy from the Clearasil commercials. If you're thinking about buying this audiobook, do yourself a favor and listen to the preview. This guy has less enthusiasm to his voice than a wall. Just cause the book is about the world being a dead wasteland, doesn't mean the narrator should like his soul is dead too.

Also, stop with the crappy sound effects. They were so cheesy and completely unnecessary and didn't help bring life to the book.

This series has gone far enough. I almost didn't get through this one and mr westfield's delivery is mundane.

    "Great Book"

I loved this book and this series but I really do not understand the ending. The story is cryptic and leaves a lot to be desired for the ending. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get it.

    "Horrible series"

I listened to the first four books because my wife purchased them for me. I was astonished at the authors information that explains himself to be highly experienced with firearms and outdoor craft. The books and the main character display a Hollywood understanding of those skills needed to survive in the world imagined by the author. The situations and decisions made by the main character are frustratingly laughable. Save your money

Just ok. Not terrible, average. Books 1 & 2 were better.
This book leaves an opportunity for a 4th. If written I'd read it.

    "Got what I expected"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

YES! The way the book is written in the first/3rd person forces the narrator read like that and its super freaking annoying sometimes. Instead of the narrator just reading and allowing the conversation to flow... the narrator is forced to read the conversation followed by "he said" or "she said" The narrator only needs to say who says something if its explicitly clear who is talking.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dont have a favorite character, I'm not sure the book is written to have a favorite character.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

If the book(s) arent written the way they were/are, the performance would be dramatically smoother.

Could you see The Pit being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, not as an independent movie. The series could work... but I would much prefer one or two other series be made into movies before this one.

    Any additional comments?

I'm really not sure if the book needs to be slightly adjusted in the way its written AND the narrator needs to be changed or if the narrator just needs to read it without the 'he said, she said' narration.

Big improvements since the first book. Awesome ending. Didn't see that coming. Well done.
Idk if the series should stop here or go on. It might get worse.

What would have made The Pit better?

If it weren't boring and the narrator flat, monotone and dry. I had to push through to the end of this book. The story got some better in the middle but there was very little action and the story was WAY out there. I do not recommend this book.

Has The Pit turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I've read lots of books in this genre so I am prepared for bad ones every now and then.

Would you be willing to try another one of Mark Westfield’s performances?

    No

"Continued excitement in a ravaged world"

Trying stay alive in a blighted world is hard enough. Throw in enemies and an environment that challenges your survival skills and you have a gripping tale. Noah Mann has created a tale of adventure in his "Bugging Out" series. Very entertaining, one point off for a monotone narration.
